Most of you know about this.

Will be a year in November since it's happened, claim is still outstanding.

Immense amount of damage from a head on...just realised the roof looks wrong, as it was cut off, even sho, the polo got smaller.

 You look lucky to be alive from those pictures...

Yeah, the guy was in a Focus and walked away fine. I shattered my knee bone, broke my arm and sternum, various other things, friend broke her shoulder, jaw and other things.

Guy got a £200 fine and had to re-take his test. WOW! I will have arthritis in the knee by the time I'm 30, still affects me now, was a keen football player, obviously never was the same when I came back to playing sport. I was 17 when it happened.

Got a big compensation package but its a small consolation really.

Yeam, I'm 6'3, the fire brigade cut it off to get me out, can't describe the amount of pain when they stretched my leg

Hearing/Reading most of these stories really makes me think how lucky I was in the 5, all I had was a lump on my head where head+roof+road met in one fell swoop...nearly split it open aparantly.

Both the police and ambulance crews arrived looked at the car, looked at me and were amazed that me and Amy got out fine...or could get out even.

Was amusing when the ambulance pulled up...

Ambulance man: "Urm...does anybody actually need an ambulance?"
Everyone else:
Ambulance man: "Well you see the clutch broke on the way here, and we've had to make do with just beating the hell out of it."

Strangly neither of is did need medical care, they checked me over, were amazed I only had a knock on the head, then sent me on my way. :)

Man, some of you are terrible drivers, or at least know some.
Never had a crash in the 10 years odd i've been driving.

Just because you have never had an accident doesn't make you a good driver, and if you have had an accident it doesn't make you a bad driver.

I remember you posting that, it wasn't your fault was it you were avoiding hitting someone else head on iirc?

Depends who's fault the accident was. If you have had an accident that was your fault then yes you are a bad driver.

Well no, it's not really that simple, is it?

An error of judgement doesn't make you a bad driver, otherwise Sebastein Loeb would be an awful driver.

I am pretty sure that when lorry drivers flash their lights it just means that it is safe for you to pull back in. It is their own 'code' and so he was probably just being helpful without a clue it would almost kill you! Couldn't your mate have grabbed the wheel and pulled the car out of gear?

I think you are right about the code (I spent 1995 -1998 being a White Van Man) but whatever reason he flashed me it caused the series of events.

The A65 goes round a sharp corner not long after I overtook and from what I can remember he was asleep. That's why he took little injury as he was relaxed at the point of impact. Nobody to this date has been able to explain how I got from the car into the field (I.e the seat belt didn't fail) the two options I think are. I hit the release button whilst flailing about or I got out of the car semi conscious and then collapsed in the field.

Sooo freaky all these years later having a big two day gap in my life. Driving - BLANK - Hospital.

Some of you will probably remember this...

Driving down a nice straight road on the way home one evening, a Clio pulls out of a junction just up the road. Because I'm already doing the speed limit, I pull out and overtake him.

He seems to think this isn't good enough, so nails it. Being in the whole "OMG MY CAR IS A ROCKET, YOU CAN'T BEAT ME" frame of mind, I continue to keep my foot planted.

Turn to look at him and think "WTF are you doing", look back ahead and see some headlights coming towards me. Knowing that the other guy won't back off, I have no alternative but to brake hard and dart in behind the Clio.

So I do just that... and end up losing the back end, spinning the car several times, smashing into a lampost and taking out 10m of wooden fence.

I was absolutely gutted but I'm glad it happened. Knocked some sense into me as it could have been a whole lot worse! It took me 6 months before I had the courage to overtake again. But then, I guess that's not a bad thing. Those 6 months were the most fuel efficient of my life :D
