Whatsapp does not download pictures on 3/4G - iPhone and Android

Bit of a puzzler, my wife and her mother upgraded at the same time (same account, EE) and neither of their whatsapp apps will download media/images on cellular data.

Wife is on iPhone 6 and mother in law on Galaxy Edge something or other.

Mobile data works as in browsing, streaming music etc. On the Android I've deleted the APN settings and added new recommended settings... we've done all the whatsapp and EE suggestions AND the wife had her iPhone swapped by Apple but this still persists.

Anyone have any ideas? Could this be blocked at the account level? EE support are as much help as a chocolate tea pot

Tried the recommended APN settings already, including blank ports on the Samsung. I do believe APN settings on the iPhone can't be edited

To update, found the issue after months of back and fourth with EE... Content lock! As neither the wife nor her mother do much with their phones, they've never seen the EE age verification screen. It was just by chance the mrs wanted to check a lottery ticket. Apparently this stops whatsapp working too??!

After writing a sharp email to EE, we've got 6 months free on the contracts as their CS wasn't able to pick this up so just posting this here in case it helps anyone Googling this issue
