I can't tell you what does put strain on your FWD drivetrain. Flooring it around a very sharp corner in 1st, literally the diff exploded out of the casing into the road / flywheel etc.

Pretty stupid thing to do, and VR6 gearboxes aren't too cheap! Won't be doing that again after groveling under the car for a weekend!

I would say wheelspinning from standstill would be worse on a RWD car. Front wheel drive the weight shifts to the back so the front goes light......so you spin. Rear wheen drive it squats down and grips like **** so it "should be" harder to spin the wheels.

Spinning the wheels once they're spinning is less stressful (well, on everything but the tyres) than being right on the brink of breaking traction.
