I can't tell you what does put strain on your FWD drivetrain. Flooring it around a very sharp corner in 1st, literally the diff exploded out of the casing into the road / flywheel etc.
Pretty stupid thing to do, and VR6 gearboxes aren't too cheap! Won't be doing that again after groveling under the car for a weekend!
I would say wheelspinning from standstill would be worse on a RWD car. Front wheel drive the weight shifts to the back so the front goes light......so you spin. Rear wheen drive it squats down and grips like **** so it "should be" harder to spin the wheels.
