Although I've just switched back to a desk set up due to a bunch of RTS/RPG games that's been in my Steam Library for a few years that I now want to play and feel a desk set up would be better.
If consoles supported mouse and keyboard as standard along with controllers I'd probably ditch my gaming PC. I shudder to think how many thousands of pounds I've spent on various builds over the years.
Lol if 50% of your library is rts games and you play with keyboard and mouse then what use is the console.
For numerous reasons.
I prefer driving, Action RPG, Action, 3rd person etc games on console using a pad
There are games out on consoles that I can't get on PC.
Majority of the people I play with don't own a PC so most games I play multi-player are console based
No matter what anyone says, consoles do offer a far greater ease of use and pick up and play than a PC.
I don't like to pigeon hole myself to a single platform either.
So lets summarise shall we
PC & Console have there place
Wouldn't the low framerate be an issue if your a keyboard mouse player?
I play all my games on pad with fairyl low sensitivity so 60fps seems fine for me but i know when you use mouse and start turning screen quickly 60fps isn't great.
I'd feel the difference, yes. But it's something that I'd quickly get used to again. I'd also be in the same boat (so to speak) as everyone else, whereas on PC in any given multiplayer game there are usually people running all sorts of different refresh rates and FPS. This gives a competitive advantage to some of those players.
Many people here are complaining that pc gaming is more expensive etc, but that isn't the case (for most people anyway), here is why, today many people need at least a half decent PC at home for work, all you need to do is slap a £250 GPU and you got a decent gaming pc for half the price of the scorpio!
With the imminent arrival of the impressive looking Xbox1 X and seeing the 4k Forza demo at E3, it's clear my r9 290 has just about run its course. Sadly I don't think it's a case of just upgrading my r9 290 as any newer high end GPU will be hamstrung by my FX8350 and measly 1333hz 8gb of RAM. So the way I see it i have a couple of options.
1- buy a new GPU to keep up with a console...and upgrade CPU/Mobo/RAM later (probably the 1600)
2- swallow my pride and stick with what I have until there's something with a bigger leap in performance for the money
I currently game on my 1080p 60hz TV but I would like to get a 4K TV in the new year too
If anyone has any more suggestions I'll be happy to hear them
I won't be buying until September/October anyway
Update:
Looks like I need to speed up my desicion, it seems like my GPU has died, I have been developing a few issues recently anyway, possibly driver related since the Win10 creators update, my HDMI audio kept vanishing and I was continuously updating and rolling back my graphics driver to re enable the audio. It was also getting stupidly warm, 95 degrees, and this isn't a reference 290 either, have had lots of crashes due to my PC overheating. I have been getting plenty of red screen of deaths too, never had them before, after a quick google search it does seem to GPU related.
Not sure
