When are SLC SSD's arriving?

So from what i've been reading apparently single layer cell SSD's will last a ton longer than multi layer cell drives. Why SLC drives would last longer than MLC drives im not sure of because if i didn't know about it i would guess MLC would be better.

Anyone know a time frame for them?
 
SLC drives have been available all along. Look for the ones priced at £500 for a 64Gb and you're pretty much certain to get an SLC drive. I paid £380 for an SLC 64Gb card for my ASUS eeePC and it is a bit faster than the equivalent MLC card, but it was 3 times the price! In hindsight, a poor deal.

The current crop of MLC drives are guaranteed for 2 years plus and for the price difference, that's probably the better bet. They're faster than SLC now too.

MLC is the way forward at the moment - they just shove more memory on the board to reduce the number of writes any one location gets. If they get a handle on making the SLC chips cheaper then the situation may change, but at the moment, the MLC drives are as good as it gets.
 
Mtron drives are slc aswell, run one myself. £85 will get you a 16GB one atm.. I paid £173 11 months ago and it was worth every penny.

the MLC drives seem to be fine at the moment see how long my SSD lasts me, SLC seem nowadays only have there life time for them thats all (100k SLC to an 10k for MLC, per 512KB page) MLC has more space options and seems to be speed as well with samsung or Indilinx based SSDs
