When are you going fully electric?

Received my Ioniq 5 AWD yesterday, a day earlier than planned. My first EV and first automatic car, took a while to get used to not using my left foot to brake, and changing an imaginary gear stick. Love the quietness and the ride, I can tell it will be a nice place to be on the Motorway. Signed up to Octopus Go ATM, as had an issue with my Ohme account so once sorted will move over to that.
These are crazy good value used at the moment and surprisingly practical

Wife is not convinced by the looks though :D

If they can do for electric cars what has become standard for ICE cars ( the same nozzle delivering different fuels and normal payments with no app unless you really want to go down that route) then the take up will get better.

Sorry since when can you pay for all fuel transactions at the pump with a debit card?

And if I want Shell loyalty points why can’t I fill up at BP for them. And why don’t all stations sell super unleaded?

Standard for fuel purchases? Utopia in your head I’m afraid.

Plus I’ve always had to pay for fuel… why would I want that enforced?

Has she seen/been in one yet? Makes a lot of different seeing it in the metal. Ive not checked the 2nd hand market but I wonder if they are the 21/early 22 models with the lower capacity battery and less powerful motors?

I would say the vast majority of pumps have card payment as standard, if you want the points you go to the station that will supply them, simple. But you also pay in the kiosk don't you and I've always had to pay for fuel too but I don't what to have 10 different apps for every garage that I go too

I'm unsure where you fill up with fuel, but i have never seen the same nozzle dispense diesel and petrol, it's normally a nozzle for each.

For card payments, cash payment or payment via the fuel companies mobile app? Yes, yes they do ;)

(Yes ok, fuel cards are different)
Then the answer is yes.
Use an app and sign up to a subscription and you even get discounted rates, i'm sure if that was available for petrol/diesel then people would download the app in a jiffy.

They do, it's called a fuel card but most people just fail to meet the minimum order quantity :D

govt reports/aa/rac all say there is a whole demographic who don't want to **** around with a phone to pay for electricity, so govt has told charging companies they need to provide cards,
that said on street chargers (like some parking meters) will have to be exceptions

agree ioniq5 's look at lot nicer in the flesh, several local silver ones, in comparison the ev6 backside - only a mother could love that

Those I take it, will be the buggers who fill up at a petrol station then stroll into the shop and spend 10 minutes buying the weeks shopping.

While everyone behind them in the pump queue has to wait while they count their cash? :D:D:D

Obviously not one nozzle delivering different fuels just the one standard nozzle for each fuel pump

To be fair, as a fully fledged sloped foreheaded neanderthal, even I have an app for every fuel station including the ones I only visit a few times a year. Points mean prizes and all that.

The real winner for me would be the provider(s) who serve me out electrons on account which I settle at the end of the month. That would make my expenses / anal cost analysis much easier.

Not for our American friends

For Tesla you just plug it in (if you are driving a Tesla), there are a growing list of other providers that also support this. So no cards or apps required.

I have only ever charged at Tesla, as like the vast majority of people, I don't often need to do 300 miles without access to a destination charging option.

The Tesla charging system is really very good. If every other manufacturer was as good as this then many of the issues discussed would be completely irrelevant.
