When did you leave home?

29 and still here.

for a long time in my life i didn't have a lot of money. in the last couple of years i have a "career" and some money so im not ready to go back to being skint anytime soon by renting a flat.

Moved out to living in London pretty much full time shortly after I turned 18, been living here for the last nearly 3 years :)

I left home when I was 18, by that point I had been in full time employment 2 years and had put a deposit on my first house.

I got kicked out at 18, rented a room in a flat for a year. Then that got sold, my parents let me move back in for about 6 months before kicking me out again for good.

Went to boarding school at 13, clearly still living with parents in holidays but not too much of that spent 'at home'. After I finished school I never spent more than a couple of weeks at home.

I left home at 18 went to Hong Kong on a Tour of Duty with the British Army in the northern territories, I was attached to a gurkha regiment to help coordinate & catch illegal immigrants coming over from China. 1991

Left at 18 (well, my parents sold the house and left the country, so I didn't have much choice :p). Stayed in an empty house of a family friend for 6 months, had a gap year, lived in different flats for 5 years while at uni, visiting my parents for a few months each yeah in Vienna/Cambridge. Stayed with my Mum for a few months before I came out to Taiwan, and will move back in with her for a month or so when I get home while I sort my life out again.

26, bought a flat with the then girlfriend, we split and she moved out so I now own and pay for it all........ be 5 1/2 years now and I love it. I can't imagine going back home with the parents as I love my independence and I get on with them better then I ever did living at home.....

Whilst I'm at university and thus a long long way from home, I don't really consider that moving "out".

I'm still exceptionally close, and go back every holiday and even a couple of generic breaks of my choosing.

Little more important in life than family.

went to uni at 19, finished at 23, moved out 6 months later.

Found it really hard living with my parents again after uni, got use to my own way of doing things.
