Where does it end......... I mean there is always another step better. How ever good the system gets. Could just make one final improvement. Just one more update would surely finish it ! ?? ;).....

I think I have my system on plateau, to move to the next level up, gets obscene ....but still I scour the adverts to perhaps give me a lead into the next world....:(

Dam that action site

Dear santa,
My HiFi Wish list...promise I'll be good for the next..err 10 years !!
Linn Klimax Aktiv Cross Over
Linn Klimax Chakra Twin Power amp 2 off if possible
Linn Klimax DS network DAC
Linn Klimax Kontrol pre-amp

I don't think it does end. Unless you're a multi millionaire. I thought mine was at it's best, then I upgraded my Receiver to take advantage of the HD sound formats and it turns out it's way better for non-HD sound formats too

Eventually we've gotta learn to listen to the content, not the hardware ;)

I'll stop when the screen size reaches 200" and I have 3 rows of seats in my completely blacked out home cinema :)

Think you can find that in most large towns ;)

The AV side I think bottoms out much sooner than the Audio/music side.

Why slum it with the chavs and the loud eaters when you can lord over your own cinema? Not many places showing Jaws and Indy these days either ;)

i've got quite a low end av system, and i mean really low end lol (denon av amp, mission speakers all round etc). yeah their low end and I have an insane ammount of choice of upgrades that would be miles better than this lot but for the room it's all in, it would just be the biggest waste of money possible lol

When I get it all into a better/bigger room then it will sound better, and then the neverending quest for better sound carries on :)

Im still buzzing over my ATC purchase, so my upgrades are fully complete for a while as well as not. I need the matching power amp for my arcam to really help power these 'SL spec' bass drivers !

Space is also an issue with upgrades, but a nice big paycheck too.

I heard a pair of active ATC50s recently. Ace would be an appropriate description. Not quite to my personal taste, but seriously seriously good.

ATC ..... Get them ACTIVE !!!!! it wipes the floor with passive systems.

Shall i give you my account number and sort code so you can wire me the thousand + pounds needed :D:D:D

Im moving down to london with the mrs, so really don't have the cash to splurge on uber ATCs. Im soo happy i went for these, as my upgraditis is all cured (except for a power amp or more powerful danish class-D). Plus even getting a delta 290p will only cost me circa £100, making scm12s + amazing stands + power amp = only £640, much more attractive than expensive actives.

Il get some active 50s in a few years when i have my own house :D

Well you can't get the Klimax crossovers anymore I need...... But I did win a very late spec LK style Tunebox with the right cards in today on the bay. :D

Cost me a bit, as they are like rocking horse poo !....... (£695 inc)
Least it opens the door way to saving up for the power amps...

Well I have a Naim CD3.5, a massive new integrated coming in a couple of days, and a pair of Tannoy R3's.

I'm happy with the source/amp, but I will be changing the speakers for a pair of DIY jobbies based on the Ergo IX as designed by James at PFM. After that I doubt I'll ever afford better kit until someone related to me who happens to be loaded bites the dust.

I also have a mad Ariston RD80 with a few structural mods, but I could never get rid for sentimental reasons. I was planning on building a turntable from scratch, but that went out the window.

To all intents and purposes I have stopped upgrading and I used to be terrible for it. Always worrying that something could be improved and so on. haven't bought anything for over 2 years now.

The ATC50's however are something I would rather like but the price is over £7K and there is no way I can ever justify that. I've had the Active20-2's for a few years now and I'm happy. I don't read the magazines any more and avoid other audio/hifi forums pretty much. Problem solved.....for now.

LOL...... Ok I ask Santa for one ;).........

Well after 25 years of playing with HiFi, I'm still happy they are offering me the best all round solution. Few others can tick as many boxes, and when you spend this much, you want as many boxes ticked as possible !!!

I do use Dynaudio based speakers in the main room. The L+R+C are my own creation driven actively.....and out perform Akurate 242's at 6K
