When do you use 5th gear

At about 40mph in Fiesta 1.8 tdi
35-40mph in Fiat Coupe 20vt (will sit in 5th at 30 on a flat, but won't do hills... geared for 173mph at limiter though, so is rather long!)
 
If I'm not thrashing my TT, then usually as soon as possible. When pootling around town it handles 5th at 25-30mph quite happily. The lower gears just feel too 'punchy' at lower speeds.

It's not really a concious decision either. It just kinda happens.

6 speed and no way is the car doing 6400rpm at 100mph, well below that ;) (in 5th).
I can do 30 in 6th, thats not an issue either :D
 
5th when all you need to do is put a feather on the throttle.
But in a v8 screw that, kick it down 2 notches and kill pedestrians with sound.
 
5th is where i sit most of the time, habit now to just move through the gears with quick changes.
i can hit 5th by 25 unless its the first start of the day and then generaly 4 is as high as i go for the first 30 minutes. the poor mpg i get form my x reg astra might be to do with a choke issue! hurry up bmw!
