That's my plan as well.

Hate not being able to scratch that upgrade itch now :(

What does sata express do?

SATA 3.0 was limiting SSD's speed so they needed a stop gap solution before the next full release of SATA 4.0 and came up with SATA express. Tbh it looks like someone quickly designed it out of desperation without thinking it through, with the rise pci-e based SSD's on the m.2 and the recent nvme standards SATA express become antiquated before had a chance to take off. Like a technological equivalent of a still birth.

Better support for those PCIe/m.2/NVME SSDs would be nice. Preferably, there should be enough lanes to run at least 2 GPU SLI and a PCIe based SSD. Skylake will release August at the earliest, but we haven't seen an sufficient benchmarks or anything yet. If it's just a small performance increase, not worth it IMO, especially as new boards and DDR4 cost more. And DDR4 performance vs DDR3 doesn't justify the the higher cost.

The stars are aligning for a 2016 upgrade.....

Skylake unlocked + the better one of the tick/tock.
Gpus on Smaller Process/DX12
Hopefully M.2 PCIe SSDs become mainstream in price & availability.

50%* better value

The flagship unlocked Core i7 6700K CPU will launch first in mid August while the other unlocked Core i5 6600K CPU will launch a few weeks later in September.

Prices will probably be eye watering with a limited supply early doors.. Want to see some more benchmarks before I consider upgrading my trusty old 2500k.

Just looking at that slide I see there is a i7-6700 and a K variant. Better be careful come ordering time ;)

I was planning to use my old x79 and 4930k as a replacement for my ageing 2500K but might hold on till I can grab a i7 6700K and sell everything else.
