I was having this conversation with my gf the other day. Basically, my working week starts on a Sunday, finishes on the Saturday as this is how the rota's are done through work. (and as long as i can remember Sunday is the start of the week in my house hold)

She then started saying the first day of the week is Monday, the last is Sunday. A friend of hers thinks the start of the week is Saturday and ends Friday, soon through this answer out the window, else why would it be called the weekEND

So, where do you guys stand, is Sunday the start for you, or is it Monday?

Monday. But nothing ever happens on a Sunday, it might as well not exist.

Rubbish - the main F1 race is on a Sunday ;)

My works rota system runs from Sun-Sat though my own rota seems to be set Fri-Tue which means I get two set days off every week but I'm working every weekend.
After careful consideration over the past few months I've decided 2012 will bring a change for me, I've had enough of working **** hours and shifts, I'm currently looking at part time college courses which will (hopefully) aid me in making this change!

The week starts on Monday - Saturday and Sunday are the weekend. Blatantly.

As much as it pains me to say it......simples.

Monday is the start of the working week - fact :)

/edit - Monday is the start of the week full stop :)

I think of Monday as the start of my week and Sunday as the end.

[cheesy motivational reasoning] I work then party, not party then work. [\cheesy motivational reasoning]

^^What are you on about? The week ends at the weekend - Saturday and Sunday, and the week therefore starts on Monday. Clearly

What's all this 'Jews, Islams and Christians' nonsense?

That's just one standard of many that exist, it isnt the definitive or correct one.

their weeks, which is a massive part of our history, states that the week ends on the Friday or the Saturday.

According to the Hebrew calendars, traditional Christian calendars, Sunday is literally the "first day" of the week. According to the International Organization for Standardization ISO 8601 Sunday is the seventh and last day of the week.

Get things right, before using rolleyes

It means who you are will determine how you view the week.
