When is the next jump?

talking about a "night and day" difference between SSD's and regular HDD's you take it with a pinch of salt.

Of course. I'll add my voice to the choir on this one though, the difference between a couple of seconds delay before office starts to open and no delay is surprising. I've put an ssd in a netbook, and it turns on far quicker than my desktop and firefox/office is if anything more responsive.

In terms of throughput/actual performance there isn't much in it; anything that takes a long time to process will take the same time on hard drive or ssd. However in terms of 'the desktop experience' they're excellent, the machine just does every little thing faster, and that's really nice.

a lil off topic but SSDs are really still in their infancy. The difference between a new SSD and a few month old SSD is staggering due to the quirks with writes. Definately a good idea to give them a while to work the bugs out and stick with a HDD in the mean time.
