I cant use this computer with vista for much longer. Stupid thing just randomly keeps freezing. Thinking it might be my memory but still.

If it's your RAM, I'm not sure any effort by MS is going to resolve it.

Unlikely a service pack will fix this, sounds more like a hardware problem.

Its some hardware conflict but maybe a service pack will allow for better configurations.

Anyone know of any known issues with AMD x2 4400+ with OCZ memory?

My entire system is built from only the best brand products. The memory was the only cheap option

Vista SP1 "Fiji" due by end of November and it just fix for hardwares only -- you will wait until Vista Update appear on your PC when it release.

Sounds like hardware problems for sure,as to SP1 to be honest it won't make a lot of difference to Vista, especially on stability which at the moment is excellent IMHO,SP1 will basically fix minor bugs etc....

Personally drivers will make a bigger difference then SP1,since they are getting better all the time for performance,by time SP1 arrives drivers should be pretty fast and matured.

Amazing how many people blame hardware problems on Vista,Vista is an OS it can't fix faulty hardware.

My PC with Vista has this, everything will stop responding and I'll get the blue circle for around a minute and then everything will kick in again, it's VERY annoying. Also is anyone elses Firefox really unstable? Mine crashes 80% of the time when I close a Quicktime video and I keep getting loads of random crashes. My first install didn't have any of these problems so I'm hoping it's a software problem.

No you dont have "this" mine is a full lock up. Lets just say if sound is playing at the time. It will just scream stuck. Its a full lockup with no visual effects in motion. Fully locks up. I have to say Its not done it since putting my memory in single channel. Still yet to confirm this is the prime suspect yet. Few more days will prove this.

edit:

Forget that. Its crashed now.

Vista ain't all that reliable :( All that extra security and DRM seems to complicate things.

No major hardware problems here.

It has corupted and lost a couple of Office documents on usb drives.
It refused to play DVD's until I installed a Plug&play monitor driver.
a lot of other hardware related bugs.

It's more work to maintain than XP is, which in my view takes away the whole point of it.
