Just out of interest..

System Software Overview:
  System Version:	Mac OS X 10.5.4 (9E17)
  Kernel Version:	Darwin 9.4.0
...
Time since boot:	6 days 15:25

After that about of time, development with Xcode (including serious abuse) and the daily 7-8 hours of Parallels running XP in a vm... when all the apps are closed (apart from safari) it's using about the same amount of memory as if it's just started..

Free: 2.81 GB
Wired: 595 MB
Active: 570 MB
Inactive: 47 MB
Used 1.19GB

I'm still detecting a slight memory leak in safari 3.1.1 (restarting safari reduced the memory by about 800MB after all that time).

Still got a long time to beat my recently deceased SuSE storage array with over a year uptime and the restart only so I could get to clean the fan and heatsinks properly!

So purely out of geekness - uptime?

Only 3 days. Biggest I have seen it is about 15 days.

My flatmate's is currently sitting at 29 days.

I have to reboot at least once a week as sometimes I get this bug with youtube, it plays the first 2 secs of the video then pauses. Only way around this is to reboot :S

Was playing with Vista in Bootcamp earlier. Had been up since the 10.5.4 update before that, so about 8 days.

I turn my iMac off completely most days. Ie, turn it on when I get home from work, use it, sleep if I'm going to use it again that evening and then off before bed.

I hear it uses little power when in sleep mode, but as it only takes 20 seconds to boot, I don't really see the point.

Normally its a few weeks but it seems to lockup overnight randomly so I have to reboot it sometimes which is very annoying as I can lose work if I have any left open at night

that's a bit schoolboy to walk away from your computer and leave unsaved work on there!

Windows update taught me that!

Windows update says: Oh.. you have unsaved work? I have an update that takes priority that needs rebooting without saving your work.

Me: returns to desk to see Login prompt.

It's the biggest security risk windows has. People don't update because the machine restart or annoys the crap out of you with "Would you like to install the updates now or later?" where "later" means in about 10 minutes time..

I reboot it every night. Although, I do sleep it if I've got to pop out.

It's a habit :o

14 Hours 31 Mins

Again on my macbook pro only reason it's so long is that it was downloading overnight otherwise it would be much lower, but i generally shut down at night.

Time since boot:24 days 12:28

Never shut my macbook down just let it sleep, very handy to just open it up and use it straight away

Turn them off when im not using them. So there probably only on for 12 hours. That's probably the longest time there probably ever on for.

Why does everyone keep them on for so long? It's not like it takes 2 days for the thing to startup?
