When will stocks get back to normal

I would say not for some time. My bro keeps trying to tell me the prices are coming down, but I don't see it. Cards are still changing hands for way more than the MSRP. As long as people are willing to pay to be scalped then it won't change, even when mining isn't as lucrative.

Yes mid-ranged cards currently cost £700, that is the world in which we live. i can't see it dropping back down for at least a year or two at best.

You are looking at at least 3 years before any real price drop. By then the 7000/4000 series cards will likely be here with great performance and not cheap!
Todays cards will be taken off the shelves by then.

They are coming down, eg 6700xt Strix available at a retailer for £699.98, compared to over £800 just a few weeks a go. However, still along way to go until MRSP

I reckon this time next year supply will have had time to ramp up a bit, might still be inflated prices but at least there will be a wider range of cards in stock I think.

I don't think supply will ever meet demand from now on. Fab plants simply aren't coming on line quick enough to keep pace.

Lots of doom and gloom here. I run a 1660ti and a Kaby Lake I5, and I'm still easily managing games like Days Gone. It might huff and puff a bit more with stuff like Valhalla, but I can still run it at high. I absolutely love my Series X for typical "Games", and now mostly use my PC for MSFS2020, Iracing and Euro Truck etc. MSFS is probably as demanding as they come, but at 1080 on a 27" monitor it still runs at high settings. I get that this is an enthusiast forum, but for the majority we just want decent performance at a sensible price. I won't pay stupid money for a GPU and scalpers won't be getting my hard earned anytime soon.

Patience my young Padawan. . . .

Stock is becoming really good suddenly. All it took was the crypto crash and magically cards are in stock now, checked my local store and now they have 40 rtx3080, 15 rtx3080ti, 5 rtx3090, 27 rtx3070 in stock and on shelves compared to nothing at all on shelves for 6 months prior

Im guessing prices will be 20% above msrp around November.

Prices have dropped 10-30% on various sites over a 3 week period. This is decrease is likely to accelerate if the bitcoin price remains stable or falls even more. Stock has increased too.

Late 2021/very early 2022 is a fair prediction

People have cards now though

Yes more than before , at one point stock was going in seconds at ridiculous prices but now they aint going as fast ? I got them into baskets with not much effort and prices have dropped yes still over priced but they are not selling as fast ? why is that ?

Back to "normal" or near MSRP will be a long, long time.

I have noticed an increase in positivity and hopeful forum/Discord posts, but no real evidence.

Before "normal" occurs, the next generation of cards will be on the horizon and people will wait for those instead of buying 3000 and 6000 series. Rinse and repeat of our current situation.

Yeah, fully agree. Back in September/October last year when I was starting to look at GPUs for my build, I saw plenty of previous generation (Nvidia 2000 / AMD 5000 series) cards available. While I was looking for a "good deal" I was completely unaware that prices were only going up. Eventually all the other cards I hesitated on disappeared. Somehow managed to get my GPU on a drop at MSRP too so I was fortunate.

It's all a mess really.

Oh yeah? Find me a 3060 ti (new) in stock. There are none.

Sure there's not plenty of stock of every SKU, but there likely will be some cards such as the 6800 (non xt) and the afformentioned which have production reasons why they are rare. Even then most cards are obtainable though pub/sub alert lists. Many other cards are widely available from retailers.

I'd also say that as the 6700xt is a similar "class" of card to the 3060ti. With that you have do have availability, even if that is (what you may view as) with a compromise product.
