When will the PS3 get a price cut?

I really don't see that happening anytime soon really, the PS3 hasn't even peaked yet, what with MGS4 coming out in a couple of months, Home hopefully later this year, and a few other really decent exclusives like LBP and Resistance 2, plus now that blu-ray has won over that has made the PS3 even more viable, even at its current price point, I don't think we'll be seeing any significant prices cuts on the PS3 until after Christmas tbh.

250 with a game - sometime towards the end of the year

200 with a game - sometime towards the middle/end of next year

Just a guess obviously.

I can see Sony waiting until the end of this year as to whether to consider a price cut.

It will all depend on how well it sells once the bigger titles are out, inc the likes of Home & Play TV.

its already done its big price cut so dont think we'll see another noticeable one for a good while...

now that they can be had for around 250 (no game) its comparable with the other next gens, so the choice comes down to the console itself (and its games) rather than the money...

this is why i'm guessing (as far as i know) the ps3 is now taking over in terms of sales, i can't really see the 360 getting the edge again now the ps has gained traction.

i reckon it'll be after chrimbo when we see them with a game for £250.

When will the PS3 get a price cut?
Man... you people are kinda getting on my nerves now :p Hasn't the PS3 already had 3 price cuts? Just buy it ffs :p

But yes, I can see another cut coming by the end of this year because they keep slimming down the hardware so that it costs less to make. They should break-even soon apparently too.

With the PS3 going down to a 45nM Cell and a 65nM RSX meaning less power consumption and smaller heatsinks in August time, i expect the PS3 price to drop towards Christmas this year.

You are kidding, surely?

I don't think we'll see another price cut for a while, maybe something at Christmas but they're selling well in Europe and the UK, they don't really need to cut the price.

I can't see a price drop for a long time yet, even though the build costs are dropping per unit now that BD tech is maturing a bit more. Sony make a loss on each unit, so lower build costs will mean less of a loss per unit, rather than a price drop for the end user for the time being.

With the death of HD DVD, Sony are about to have a damn good run, no need to drop the price yet.

I can see it being £269.99 around Christmas time.
