When YOU open your internet browser.....

Isara.org (homepage), Gmail, and then whatever happens to be the first in the direction of browsing I'm wanting to go.

Interesting to see how few people have a search engine as their home page these days, not so long ago I suspect that would have been the majority.

Progress in tabbed browsers, broadband speed and frankly just searching from the address bar/search box I guess.

I imagine many have still have a search engine as their home page, I do.
When I open my browser, google pops up but I then hit ctrl + t and open up tabs from there (Facebook, OcUK GD and BBC News first).
Your second point is very valid though, I rarely actually press home to go to google, I just type my query into the address bar.
I must say Chromes system of having your most visited pages listed is extremely useful.

The only reason I have a search engine as my homepage is because of iGoogle, it just shows me exactly what I want to get updates on in the morning and throughout the day with the gadgets from all the big tech/news sites showing the latest 5 top article snippets.
