Some of you may have seen my thread called WAG. Some of you may have had a little chuckle at my comedy style of writing, many of you not. Most of you will be wondering what I've been sculpting out of all that filler. Well I decided the Anglia was too rusty so I junked it and started again with the contents of that tin. A little filler goes a long way if you're careful with it and I've managed to make a whole 105E bodyshell out of it. So here's how she's looking right now:

Body is basically completely rubbed down bar a few bits and is smooth as a baby's bottom. Those rear quarters were a pig to get right and used a lot of filler. The fronts and backs of the arches were even harder to get the right shape so I resorted to my old modelmaking techniques with a knife, fine chisel and sandpaper. Well it worked!

It's a bit difficult to see in the next one but I decided I would smooth off the pillars that I rebuilt. The back edge is on view and while I was going to spray them down with schutz I thought I'd finish it off properly in red to match as it's going to be seen behind the lip of the flipfront. The black bit is going to be stone-chipped and red as well so the whole front should look quite tidy. The schutz will be left for under the arches.

This is under the flipfront, I glassed in the original bonnet catch. It works too, miracle :D

Here is where I've extended the rear edge because it had been cut back too far:

And finally a moody shot of the car skulking around near the garage door :D

Ace work Jonny, definitely getting you a pint for that level of work!

Looks good too, can't wait to see what it'll be like primered and painted! Should be a real doozy :)

Still going with the Crossflow, or was it something else? My memory escapes me :)

Harry potter ain't gonna be impressed when he finds out what you've done to his mates car! :p

Maybe not, but I'm betting Johnny 69's will fly faster than that one did. :D

Excellent job so far, what colour will it be in the end??

Always wished my dad had kept his Angle box so he could have given it to me, but he sold it, and got a 3.2 Firenza, the car I learned to drive in, so I didn't mind for long

You mean a 2.3 Firenza, yeah?

Pretty much, it's about 10mm thick and weighs all of about 2kg, just heavy enough to let it idle. Standard is 10Kg :D

What's up wth the colour scheme right now? :p

It's going to be eye searing red with 69's on the doors as it was one day long back in the past.

Nothing I guess, I can see it's merits yes, but honestly, would you really want it to forever remind you of Penski's sig!!!! :p :D

Looking good, haven't heard anything for a while on it. Will be really impressive looking when done. :D

What sort of power we talking, also what sort of revs does it do?

Filler is for pansies! Weld in sheet metal for the win. Wouldn't get away with filler in a proper scene (ala Vee Dub stylee). They take magents to their cars!

Having said that, the level of work and attention to detail is so far oustanding. Well done

Should be around the 150hp mark revving up to 8000rpm. Not bad for a 45 year old motah! I might swap the cam at some point for an oldskool grind. Not quite as good for economy or lower down power but 9000rpm is quite tempting. No that's just a stupid idea, I'll break it doing that :D

nice work
what engine you got for it?
It's a bit of a hybrid. Mk2 Escort 1600cc crossflow bottom end bored out to 1700cc with a full race flowed pre-crossflow Cortina GT head. Two 40 DCOE Webers, rally grind cam, race manifold, lightened flywheel. It's actually not as exotic as it sounds but builds good reliable power.

Don't you worry about that, there's all new sheet metal welded in. My welding skillzorZes aren't quite up to bodywork standard so while it was close it still needed a lick of filler over the top to get it ready for paint. I think you'll find it's thin enough that a magnet will still stick ;)

'Proper scene'

'Dubs'

Forgive me for laughing so hard; bunch of narrow-minded fashionista goons.
