just over 1 year ago I bought a newly released 5850.
This cost me £200 and was the 2nd to top-of-the-line that could be bought for a single GPU AMD card at the time (behind the 5870)
They went on to produce a duel GPU 5970 on that series but my point is this...
1 year on and what will my £200 get me now? A 6870 (which is only a 5 series revision anyway no matter how you dress it up)
a 6870 isn't even in AMD's top tier of products!
So 1 year on and my same £200 has dropped down to tier 2!
There is no need or productive use for such marketing such as this that AMD have used for the 6 series.
It should be quite simple... My £200 *should* get me a 6950 and not all this nonsense that AMD are doing. They really do seem to have lost the plot with not only their labelling of the 6 series but their pricing.
Instead i'm being told that I need to spend the same amount on nothing new.
No Thanks AMD!
My 1st experience with ATI/AMD GPU has been an interesting 1. Great performance, poor drivers (which I have been willing to overlook because of the cost benefit) but I will be going back to Nvidia and not the 6 series.
Edit: Post 111 on 1/1/11 XD
