Where can I buy this plug? (6 pin molex?)

Glad to see I'm not the only one to positively hate scotchlocks. I always either crimp connections with splices or solder them for the very reasons stated above.

If you're able to work out the manufacturer's part number for the connector you might be able to find a source online, and maybe the mating male part too.

Posi locks are OK (or the tap version which is what you'd probably use here) but to be honest you'd be as well to crimp or ideally solder.

Shoving the wire under a fuse??

You were taking both a positive and negative connection from a piggy back of both positive and negative connection on that block and checking the ignition was on of it was a switched live etc? There's no reason it won't work, done it many times

Yeah I was getting 12v from it with the ignition half turned (it was 'ACC', basically the centre dash and radio power), I put the pos and neg on the corresponding sides of the fuse and nothing. The fuse worked - the stereo etc powered on - but no voltage was coming down the wires.

I've given up and bought a couple of fuse taps and 5a fuses.

Cut 12v wire and strip ends add dash cam + feed to one end of the cut 12v wire. Solder and Heatshrink.

EDIT/ Earth to an earthing point under the dash if you can find one, ring terminal crimped onto the earth wire.
