I have an ST220, and the boot struts have been losing "performance" recently, last night I sound deadened the boot and now they are reaslly struggling to keep the boot open at all.
So I would like to replace them but have don't know what rating they are so I can work out what rating I need to order to compensate for the increased weight.

ANy ideas ?

Sorry don't know as haven't had chance to listen yet.
I can tell you from previous experience a huge difference was made by deadening the roof and the doors (which I have already done)

I have found the lift rating of these now it is 520N, how do I go about finding uprated ones ?

Do you definitely need uprated ones? If the originals are (assumption on my part) approaching ten years or so old new ones should have a good bit more lift

No idea to be fair.
I suppose the only way to find out would be to buy some standard replacements and see.

Someone with more experience on here would know this no doubt ?

On my ST220 the struts were starting to lose their effectiveness and mine was only 7 years old when I got rid, I reckon a new set of struts will sort it out, I can't imagine the sound deadening to add more than few kilos to the weight, it just may be a bit easier to drop than before but would expect a new set of struts to sort it. Or maybe try putting some silicon spray on them as they could be sticking a bit.

If you do buy higher rated struts be aware that it may become very difficult to close the boot, also when you open the boot, it may open by itself very quickly when off the latch (watch your face!).

LOL
I am not going to double the power of them or anything silly like that.

And trying to researh this issue I discovered a mod that some people have done which is to add some springs to the struts to open the boot automatically.
It is a heavy boot with it being such a large hatch so I don't think uprating slightly will really affect things.
I actually wouldn't mind the boot opening automatically.

I mean what is the point having an open boot button on your keyfob if you have open the boot by hand anyway, and the switch to open the boot is on the handle exactly where you grab to open the boot so you are gaining nothing.

I ordered standard replacements and they work fine. actually rocks the car now when the boot gets to it's top most point.
