¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I got a new synth/drum machine recently, and in order to learn the ropes on it a little, I'd like to have a go at remaking a few tunes from computer games. I was thinking about the music from f-zero or streets of rage...

Anyone know of any way of getting hold of the notation as I'm not too good at playing stuff by ear...

Try working it out by ear? Looking for notation's the easy way out - transcription is a skill you can learn, and the more you do, the better you get!

Totally misread op. Thought you wanted guitar tabs. :o
Guitar tabs are better than nothing, I can often work out the notes from them even tho I can't play guitar. :)
Cheers, I forgot about midi files, in fact if I can figure it out I may even be able to transfer the notes over midi to the synth!

I agree it is a good skill to have, it does seem a little silly if someone else had already done it! ;) I've tried it before, and I often find the melody pretty easy to figure out, but the other parts like chords are much much harder.

This is the site I use. Check it out.
Awesome site, I love the way you can hear the some from the browser as well as view the notation. Perfect, thanks.

I used to find chords impossible.

Until my tutor gave me a tip - use the bassline. The bass will almost 100% certainly be playing the root note of the chord. Once you've got the root note, you can figure out major/minor/dominant (etc) pretty easily just by ear.

The more chord sequences you figure out, the easier it gets - it's crazy just how much seemingly complicated music just follows a set pattern.... Once you figure out the sounds and patterns, they start to crop up everywhere, and chord sequences fall into place at the drop of a hat.
