Where did Suicide Squad go wrong, how would you have fixed it? (SPOILERS!)

I thought Cara gave the worst acting performance I've ever seen before in my life in any film.

Jared was ok, Jai Courtney, how does he still get work? Margot was good.

I'm not that clued up with DC but I would throw it all away and get someone that gets the source material to oversee it all and give it a good foundation.

Why can't they get someone like Frank Miller?

ps3ud0

Where did it go wrong? Well considering the trailers seemed to show a drastic change in tone between dark and comical that's probably the starting point. Jared Leto said a ton of joker footage was cut, a lot of the flashback stuff was also meant to be real time within the movie.

Just seems they done a mass re-edit which changed the movie totally so a lot of parts felt like they were shoehorned in, while other parts with a darker tone which seemed to be how the movie was originally cut felt out of place.

Red letter media on youtube done a review on the changes and hit it on the head.

After just coming back from seeing this film, for me it was the editing of the film I could see a good film there but it just seemed to be cut badly.

the characters and the jokes just felt flat because of it. you can tell the final film is not what the director intended.

the problem was that David Ayer had his edit and Warner Bros. had another one commissioned. Both parties were unhappy with the results.

Solution? Produce an amalgamation that has elements of both but unfortunately results in a messy movie. Happens to some movies, unfortunately. I'd love to see David Ayer's edit.

Absolutely, agree 100%.

Same as, I love what Ayer's done so far, End of Watch is in my top 10 movies, Harsh Times is superb, Street Kings and Fury were decent, his only turkey so far was Sabotage but that's mainly Arnies fault.

loved Harsh Times as well, such a little gem. Generally I really like Ayers work. :)

I thought the film was okay, Will Smith was the wrong actor for an iconic character though. He like a lot of big actors only work well as original characters, not existing ones, due to the fact that his character was more Will Smith than Deadshot.

Overall I was more than content with Margot Robbie to care whether the film was good or not. ;)

IMO though, Afleck is usually a poor choice for iconic characters but his Batman was great, so it's not always the case, but Will Smith definitely did not deliver with DS IMO.

Enchantress was awesome. The dark version anyway. The one at the end where it's just Cara not so much.

I would chop out all the filler such as the squad fighting the stone men, the joker helicopter hijack (seemed pointless as everyone survives and the cast are not even shocked when they see Harley survived. It feels like a major scene was cut here).

Film would have more time then to flesh out the characters more.

There is cut joker footage with him having a half burnt face, i'd assumed this was as a result of the crash.

Oh and the boomerang guy, did he actually do anything? He seemed a bit unnecessary. Assuming he got some scenes cut too as he only said a few lines here and there trying to add some wit to the film.

He was one of the worst "main" characters in any film I've ever seen. Completely irrelevant in everything.
