where did the forums go?

Yes. And kittens would die too.

Nothing's been said yet, and it's more of an Admin issue, to me it just sounds as though there was a corrupt entry in the database and it just needed to be expunged. However I don't know enough about VB to be sure.

I am going for this reason, mainly because of the use of the word 'expunged', such a great word :)

Oh no.. T3h Kittenz!.

And yes, I also like the word 'expunged'.

I'll say what I know from watching it happen.

The forum server went down at just before 2.30am this morning. Kernel panic, software failure or power failure, I can't tell, but the effect would be almost the same anyway. The server rebooted or powered back on a few minutes later and the database error message appeared. Apparently the web server had restarted but not MySQL.

Usually when a server goes down in an uncontrolled manner like this, MySQL needs some manual help cleaning up the database, so that would be the cause of the database errors until forum server or database admin woke up and had time to fix the problem.

I'm glad it broke. It went down around 3:15am and it inspired me to sleep, seeing as I had to be up at 8.30am at the latest to go to work.
