Hi,

I got Windows 7 64-bit, I use the sleep feature quite a bit, for short periods of time but I recently had to do a fresh install and sleep worked perfectly fine after (about 2 weeks ago) but now in the last few days, sleep has been playing up

At first maybe 50% of the time, the computer would fail to come out of sleep, I mean it did but it would never display anything on screen and hard drive was very inactive and today 100% it does this, so the sleep feature has been rendered useless for me, there is no way in hell I'm doing another fresh install anytime soon just for this

Anybody got any ideas?

I don't know if this would help but Check disk also seems to be triggering I'm not sure whether its to do with the link or because I hard reboot after a failed sleep =/ http://techblog.avira.com/2009/11/26/chkdsk-in-windows-7/en/

Thanks

sounds like a device (like your graphics card) is failing to wake from sleep. might be caused by bad drivers. try updating/reinstalling the drivers for everything you can think of

Have you tried looking in the event viewer for any errors/warnings etc around the time you try and resume from sleep?

Does hibernate work?

Sleep is one of windows best ever features when it works, which in my case is hardly ever, lots of things can mess up sleep,my advice is to use Hibernate instead.
You could spend hours trying to find the cause and 9/10 you wont.

Well for some odd reason seems to be working now -.-

I tried it a few times, left it over a period of time and also rebooted and tried again so I'm hoping it fixed itself, Thanks for all comments
