Ok so my fault code reader turned up and I went out to have a play. It was getting a bit dark so will have another look today but I couldn't find where to plug the thing in :o

The manual says on the inner wing near the battery or expansion tank or near the ECU. Can't say I spotted it in any of these places.

The only green 2 hole connector was slap bang in the middle of the engine bay at the front of the engine. Surely that isn't it?

Any ideas would be good thanks. Its a 1.4 306 TU3JP engine. Thanks.

As much as I can remember from my little Pugget, the fault code reader normally sits within the ECU box or with the fuses / relays in the recess next to the headlight compartment.

Smack a picture up and I'll be able to confirm it if you can't find it later

Ah, I didn't actually look in the ECU box, only near it. Will try that as my next port of call. Thanks.

On my Xsara it's below the fuses in the cabin fusebox, on the right side in the driver's footwell, or at least that's where a RAC guy plugged his laptop.

How many of the replies above are from people that have actually owned a 1.4 306?

AFAIK the code read-out is no where near the footwells and is always in the engine bay (not always easy to find)

If its a pre 97 306 then the port is behind the battery(sort of between it and the turret). 97 and onward its by the pedals above the relays(obd2 type connector).

I thought it was a S-reg so pretty much the same as my Xsara so I replied , located as Dandle, moss and I said.

Sorry, my bad :o I'd had an arsey day at work when I sent that reply. I didn't realise they had moved the fault readout on the later revisions...

So, behind the battery or in the footwell :D

Cheers guys. Got next week off so might leave it until then as work + early sunsets are doing no favours. TBH I'd have been looking all day as I thought it was in the engine bay as stated in the fault code readers manual :o :p
