Where do I stand on this RMA?

he does have a point here. im not saying that ocuk did as i see no reason why they would but i do think its unfair for almost everybody to attack the op

his system was unstable and im sure he wanted ocuk to sort it out. why would he bend the pins if it was going to rma.

Oh so at least someone has some common sense, Why would I go take the cpu out of its socket and bend pins etc, When it was going for RMA anyway to solve the issue's I was having? Even one of the tech guys via web note said the crashes/freezes/bsod I was having sounded like a problem with the board. So if I was going to get it rma'ed anyway why the hell would I go to the trouble messing with the cpu and bending the pins? Come on guys some common sense here...

Also regarding why I posted them logs, as some people were suggesting I 're-built' the system and I messed with the cpu clearly not...

I wasn’t even the one who suggested RMA, the guy via web note suggested I should do this as it sounded like a problem with the board.

Also I didn’t make this thread to cause an upset with user's and ocuk nor was it to make ocuk look bad. I was just looking for some help/advice.

just quoting this again as some of you seem to have missed it :o

Okay, i assume that you will record each time this happens and which members of staff do this? If not i would be highly surprised.

Yes no repercussing as you claim to a member of staff that damages products but imagen that the member of staff that removed the CPU has done so once too many time in the past? or has done allready that day. Surely a person who damages a product more then a certain time would be sacked or given an offical warning? Say that the person had an offical warning (if this applys) then he would not risk reporting or have the possiblility of losing his job, so claims that the product came back that way.

All hypothtical but is possible, because if there is no repercussion there will be in some form!

So techniqually it could have been damaged by a technician who tried to pass the blame to the person who returned it.

So in saying that its close to impossable to know who is 100% to blame, maybe it 50/50 or 75/25 but we will never know, unless one side admits they did it!

This thread isn't doing OcUKs reputation any good, regardless of who is at fault. It has just turned in to a he said she said slugging match.

Why doesn't OcUK just offer a repair for the board at cost price? That way OcUK isn't out of pocket and the customer is happy as he doesn't have to buy a brand new board. I understand that most manufacturers offer a CPU pin repair or I'm sure an OcUK tech could do it.

the only thing we could do is offer the OP a 'paid for repair' by the manufacturer.
costs for this would have to be covered by the customer but could be organised by us.
repairs are not guaranteed to be successful and carry no warranty either
but could result in a working board.

dunno about you guys but if i was in the OP's shoes and was innocent here I would be WELL angry. angry at OCUK for failing to do what i'm asking and at the other forum members for practically all siding against me. which he does not appear to be. which looks very much as though he knows he's either in the wrong OR OCUK are NOT in the wrong, but either way is not going to win. first thing I would have done would be to go directly to the private tech support forum and not air this in public. doing so makes it look very much like a rather desperate plea for help and support from the public. i might be wrong, but I think i'm a fairly decent judge of people's characters.

my hunch? OP dun broke it. other definitely possible explanation? postie broke it. either way it's not OCUK's problem.

the above is not really helpful at all to this thread but frankly since it's in the public part of the forum and not in the private tech support section (where it ought to be in my opinion!) then I feel justified in giving my simple opinion on the matter.

To be honest, and I'm not being anti OCUK here  this whole debacle just comes across as pointless, all you're doing is dragging OCUK's name through the mud.

Alternatively he could be aware that angry posts will just get him nowhere or banned.

So because I'm not posting in CAPS or swearing etc etc means I'm not angry?

Of course I'm angry.... But posting in such a manner will get nowhere.
