I ordered a pair of shoes amongst other things for my girl friend off the internet from a well known retailer. I ordered the shoes on the 7th of December, just after the snow hit Scotland badly in fear I would not be able to make it to the closest city in which the retailer had a store.

I figured that, although the snow was bad, the shoes would still arrive on time as at that time, there were no major concerns with deliveries.

The goods were sent out via DPD and I was given a parcel tracking number. For two weeks the parcel never moved, I contacted DPD on various occasions but they were unable to help and they them self were unsure why the parcel had not moved.

Yesterday I contacted the retailer, to cut a very long story short, the very helpful woman who I spoke to managed to help me out. She said is it is an Christmas present and that in fear I may not receive the parcel on time she arranged to give me a refund there and then (which takes up to 72 hours to go back into my account) and as for the parcel she would inform DPD that when it reaches the depot it was to be returned to sender - the retailer. She also arranged for me to pick up all the good which just so happened to be in stock in the nearest store to me (50 mile away).

Anyway, I receive an email in the early hours of this morning from the retailer informing me that I have been given a full refund and the funds will appear back in my bank account soon. I arrange to go and pay for and pick up the goods today. As I get on the bus on the way I receive a text from DPD to inform me that my parcel is out for delivery! Despite this I went to get the presents, bout then and got home to find my mum telling me that I have a delivery - its only my order which was meant to be returned to sender!

So what do I do?!

I now have 2 of each of the presents! One set in which I have bought from the shop and another set which has arrived from DPD ordered over the internet which I paid for but am due a refund and was not meant to reach me!

As of yet the refunded money has not been transferred back to my bank account, so until this is, I'm holding off! But say within the next day or so it is transferred back! What should I do? Will the retailer know I have received them and been refunded? As they have been signed for. Should I keep all hush hush if I am refunded and take the presents back to the shop that I bought today and keep the once I received - essentially getting them for free?

This is provided I am refunded, if I am not - I will be on their case and inform them what has happened.

What's so complicated? The refund is in the system and will come through, phone them up and get them to arrange an uplift of the parcel you've already agreed the refund for.

You're asking whether or not you should steal this stuff and whether or not you'd be caught if you did.

No, that's not entirely true.

You know you shouldn't steal it. So what you're actually asking for is approval of your theft so you can feel better.

You won't get it from me.

Think you have got enough right answers to not need another one to help you go make your mind up. Of you pop...
