where do i stand with this

My last car came with a dodgy MOT. Dealer had got his mate at the garage on the same trading estate to do it. Car should never have passed as the horn didn't work and the rear brakes were knackered.

You can never fully trust the new MOT they put on a car when you buy from second hand car dealers IMO, that's why the first MOT you put it through 12months later is the real test.

If you buy a car from a dealer and get it a 2nd MOT the same day which it fails, is the garage liable?

If you mention VOSA and fraud the garage will jump through hoops for you. VOSA take their MOT's very seriously and anyone putting dodgy ones through could easily lose their licence. If the dealer has its own MOT bay its liable, but I guess if they get them done by a third party the liability would be with the MOT station.

Just to add incase you need to start looking for another streetka, inside tyres are very common, they lose there alignment driving pretty easily but it's a ford so can't expect a lot.

The Mrs has one and although I hate the thing because it's useless it's at least cheap and easy to maintain.

Just rang him again:

He had the nerve to ask me to go halfers on a new window and gave me a sob story that he only made £140 on the car and the new window is gonna cost £240.

I said "the deal was you fitted a new window, not a 2nd hand replacement"

He has said he will book it in today and offered me to take the car back while we wait,
I said "no, ill leave it with you till its done", once i take the car he will probably just fob me off constantly, at least if the car is there it might put pressure on him.

Whats so special about this one was, it only has 30k miles, fsh and 1 owner from new and we got it for £2000.

Even with the little niggles it was still the best around for condition.
Exhaust doesnt look too old and springs look recent.

Im tempted to ring and say "well how about you give us £200 and we'll sort the roof ourselves" theres a fella on ebay who will supply and fit a newin for £150. (Window, not roof)

Whats funny is, this is the first car ive ever bought from a dealer -.-

If the car isn't something special and he's already complaining about something he said he would replace what happens if theres anything else goes wrong? Surely he'll be out of pocket and even more against helping? I'd just reject it and get yer cash back tbh
