Where do I stand?

I am a music promoter, and would never dream of doing cash sales like this, except for on the door at the event. All of our ticket sales run through SeeTickets, The Ticket Sellers and We Got Tickets, this way it's peace of mind for us and the customer.

We use dedicated and licensed venues and stick to curfews though.
Outdoor events cost a lot of money to run right, you have a lot of red tape too. Next year we are looking at running our first open air event. It's going to be hard work!

Aren't seetickets one of the firms that were investigated by watchdog for dodgy inlfated price re-selling tactics?

So you bought a ticket (Or more than 1) To an house music event that was being held at a residential address (OK That could be classed as house, maybe they were playing garage at the local BP Station) without checking up first? Ticket 1600 at a residential address wasnt ringing alarm bells for you? I know people with biiig gardens and they would be struggling to fit half that many people in let alone supply alcohol and play house music for 24 hours..

Take it on the chin and do a bit of research next time dont take the word of "Some Girl" you met that was selling tickets at a house party..

The event was on Resident Advisor, so seemed legit. That's where I get all my tickets from and facts about upcoming events.

24 music festival in Radlett?!?! Wasn't that your first hint of how the evening was going to go??

Secondly £40 in with the knowledge it was over sold?!?!

Seriously people get away with scams like this because 2+2=5 to far too many people in the world.

Getting your money back just sounds like a waste of time, go poo in their letter box one night to get some sort of vengeance. Make sure you take some bog roll with you though to wipe up and post through, no one wants to be around someone who doesn't wipe.

im sry i lol'd at this, maybe because im a bit more savvy, but lol'd and still ROFL

heres a pic from the 'venue'

Now, when my girlfriend and I went to buy some tickets from this girl in south london, all was well paid cash "last minute to go kinda thing", and the girl said before we went and I quote "I probably shouldn't tell you this, but we over sold the event", we looked at our ticket and we were around the 1600 mark. We thought nothing of it as most events do over sell sometimes so off we went.

That's when the sage words of John Fashanu would could spring to mind, "AWOOGA".

I think so, but if customers buy from links on our Facebook/Twitter/Website then this shouldn't be a problem.

My girlfriend called the police to find out more information.

She has to ring again tomorrow for the freedom of information officer, but the lady did say there was 60 pages worth of information on the event.

Which you'll no doubt be charged to get hold of.

Just chalk it up to experience, and move on. Not worth the time, or money, to fight it.

For the sake of £40 just forget about it, chalk it up to experience, and add a little more diligence and healthy scepticism to such matters in the future.

It reminds me a bit of that dodgy Winter Wonderland that tickets were sold for a few Xmas' back.

The Brothers involved in that ended up doing jail time, so trading standards could certainly get involved. I'm not sure on the ticket issue though with this one and having proof. Even if you don't get your money back, would be nice to know some action was taken against the organisers no?

Put it this way, if you spend more than 6 hours on this, you have worked at minimum wage.

It sucks but other than reporting it to the relevant authorities I'd just move on.

I just want to make sure they don't run another sham event.

The people who bought from Resident Advisor should get their refunds though.
