Where do I start...?

I have an Asus A7N8X Deluxe mobo with an AMD 2600+ and 2gb of ram, One of my HDDs went which I decided to replace with a 1TB which I now find out the board/sata controller struggles to recognise and use along with the fact I use Lightroom & CS4 for photo editing it chugs along so upgrade time

Trouble is when I where a lad choice was a lot more limited than it is now and it was quite easy to choose your next upgrade, nowadays...

I'm basically looking for a Motherboard, CPU & Ram, with the rest being reused, my only concern being a Zalman ZM400A-APF power supply and ATI 9600 Radeon.

I'm not looking for a bleading edge system just a nice jump at around £200-£250 for the 3 items and I have a prference for Asus boards. Where do I start...?

Well, you look at your budget, you look at the purpose, and you decide on that. For your budget, I would recommend:

Asus P5QL Pro Intel P43 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard - £75.89

Kingston HyperX 4GB (2 X 2GB) DDR2 8500C5 1066MHz Dual Channel - £42.54

Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 2.80GHz (1066FSB) - £105.79

Total: £224.22

Or, if you could stretch a little more:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.00GHz (1333FSB) - £151.79

Total: £270.22
