Where do you do your Christmas food shop?

Just been thinking where to pick up a couple of small gifts for xmas and it got me thinking why do we (society as a generalisation) buy loads of cheap low quality food and spend excessively on cheap goods that are now overpriced from big retailers? Example, tesco sausage rolls, toiletries gift box from boots, etc.

I'm wondering if the better thing to do is skip the gifts mostly and everyone brings consumables from farm shops, small business or M&S instead?

Kids just can just open a russian doll presents or something and play with the empty boxes instead. Not serious, but maybe slightly.

80% of shopping is done at work as got a very generous discount. Then rest is Lidl with their different stuffings, cheeses, cheese biscuits etc.

The alcohol was bought earlier in the year both at work and my parents Naked Wines account.

My mum has done a lot of prep beforehand such as making the stuffings which she puts in Chinese takeaway foil trays , PiB (made with sausage meat), hm brandy butter.

Just need to pick up the reserved turkey crown on CE

I'm confused as to why you're putting M&S into the same bracket as farm shops and small businesses

Aldi for me because they pay me to shop there.

we have a Christmas meat hamper coming from the butchers tomorrow.

turkey, beef, pork, gammon sausages, chipolata sausages, bacon, sausagemeat and stuffing for £99

will cover us all over the Xmas period. each cut of meat will feed 6-8

the rest of the stuff is a mix of Sainsbury's and Aldi.
in truth Aldi have almost everything we need really but I wanted to support the local butchers
