GE & MS Virtual Earth = "we bought it", WW = "we use what's free" (hence that post of mine) :)

Also how do you know all this? are u a spy ;)

Worldwind still isn't any good for me.
I've been hovering over my area of Stoke for 40 minutes and still nothing has happened.
I can see name places and lots of GREEN.
Beansprout must be on a different server.

Depends how far zoomed in you are...as said, WW doesn't have the high-res like its commercial counterparts. At least, not outside the US, New Zealand, Robbins Island, and a few other random places/cities we found free imagery. Try this tour for more info on WW.

The servers point is interesting....it's a lovely little cluster of kit at NASA's Ames centre...in the racks next to it is a Cray system and pretty close by is Columbia.... mmmmmm.

Ok this is meeeeeeee. It's the blue dot. Quite odd to find that my post code is located about three streets away! So that's where my mail is going. And round here (Kensington Liverpool), you're not getting it back :(

Where I live.jpg

Hehe, i lived on Albany Road just to the left of the image last year. WHAT REGENERATION!! :P.

With World Wind Im impressed with the details with the town names. They even have places that arnt even a town but more of an outskirt of town.
But im not impressed with the fact that the resolution is so bad that you can even see the houses and citys:(
Am i doing something wrong or is the resolution just crap.

google earth has reasonably decent resolution of my house, but the photo must be a good 5/1/2 years old.

does anyone have the location of that Lancaster bomber caught in a flight?

/edit: found it

Wow, the london imagery has been stepped up on googleearth last time I looked :) Much better res now (was decent before but featured a very horizontal London Eye)
