Where do you work?

I work in a big room full of deranged people who knit and thread needles using only speech. It's a magical place.
 
Professional Bartender in a Cocktail bar just out side Liverpool. Brings in the money, but leaving asap to join the Army :D.

Bit confused as to how you are a contractor if you are employed by HIS? Surely if you are employed by HIS you work on projects/things/whatever that HIS are involved with.. where does the contracting come in?

It's a good job, can be very stressful at times with some of the kids you get but it's great fun normally. Apply, but make sure you make a great impression when handing your CV in :D. Pays not bad to (£5.25 an hour)

Sorry only just seen this (not been around) :o

I've written for years on the side, but a few years ago I left my IT job and went begging for writing jobs on webmags based locally. Offered to work 2-week trial for free as editor of a motoring webzine, then got a year long contract there. Money wasn't great but it was enough to manage on and I made so many contacts there and even got a little slot on globecast radio as their motoring journo :D. I contacted start-ups and wrote for them quite cheaply on the proviso that if things took off then they'd 'use' me :D. Some of them did and I still write for them, but in May of last year I got an offer I couldn't refuse to go back into IT and I had enough contacts to carry on part-time with the writing. I'd have loved to stay doing it f/t but the difference in income was pretty big - although the real issue for me was there was no security in the writing - one month is good, one bad, and it's hard to budget because you don't know what's around the corner. At the moment I seem to be asked for advice/help/guidance type pieces, often on motoring, but on anything really. I love it, but it's hard, working a 40-45 hour week then coming home and working at evenings and weekends too. But it all helps and maybe one day it will be my main income. :)
