Where does it go?

What type of sound card did you get?
This would help. Without knowing that we can just guess. 99% of sound cards will use either of the two white slots on the extreme right. These are PCI slots.

From left to right the slots are: PCI-e 1x, PCI-e 16x, PCI-e 1x, PCI-e 1x, PCI-e 16x, PCI, PCI

Cheers, it is a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy.

Then it would be the White PCI slot (Last 2). The 'fingers' should be the same length of the slot with the gap corresponding to the key. You will find that it shouldnt fit into any of the others.

Thanks. However, i'm confused as they both have some type of components installed already! I've no idea what they are or if they important.

I have just removed both of the components that were in the slots. One is a Hauppauge WinTV thing for i assume watching TV on the PC. The other i'm not so sure about, it says NET-LYNX-56/INT/AM on it! I've obviously never made use of them and don't know which to sacrifice.

The NET-LYNX-56 thing is a winmodem used for dial-up internet access. If you don't use dial-up remove it and never think of it again. :)

Easy decision for me then:). I'm off to put this sound card in now, i'm curious as to what the difference will be compared to the onboard.

Thanks for your help folks.

Don't forget to turn off your on-board sound in bios.

Do i not just determine the sound card as the default device in control panel? I've not touched anything in the bios and everything seems fine with the sound card. Btw, i've gotta say that there is a definate and noticeable improvement compared to the onboard sound.:)
