Where is the best place to sell a high spec (3 week old) laptop ?

Thanks for all your help guys. i am going to take the laptop into work in the morning and let the IT guys at my work have a try with it. According to the CAD manufacturers website, they state that it is not compatable with Vista, so it doesn't look promising. I think that the best thing would be to let my work buy a machine and set it up for me. The only trouble is that it is then strictly for business.

I have reluctently put the laptop on a e thingy auction site which i'm quite worried about after reading all the horror stories, especially nigerian scammers.

It will work if you don't mind doing some playing around, with a little jiggery pokery you can make just about any computer work with pretty well any operating system (assuming the software is coded to work with the hardware, as in X86 etc, e.g you won't get a Sun SPARC to run Windows natively but there ya go, totally different CPU architecture) ...someone even posted a link to the Toshiba forums showing that someone got a Qosmio 'designed' for Vista running XP, all it took was a little thought and some searching around the internet for the correct drivers, the only ones that aren't likly to work will be anything that relies specifically on a Toshiba driver.

I wouldn't put much stock in what Toshiba say, they will just keep telling you "it wasn't designed for XP...infidel!" ...and my laptop was designed to run XP originally, I have had it running XP Pro, Vista 64 Home and now Windows 7 Beta 7000, all without issue.

If you are set on selling it, just don't send the machine out until you see the money show up on Paypal, or whatever you use to take payment.

Hi

Thanks for the advice. The IT guys have told me that the CAD program deffinatly won't work on Vista as they've already spent a lot of time trying on another machine previously. They said that it woudl be possible to get XP on there but it woudl be a case of searching for the drivers which could take a long time and it there is something that they expect wouldn't work as they assume them to use a Toshiba only driver. They doubt that the Quad Core HD media chip would work in XP.

What is the point having a laptop with all the extras inside if I can use them. I put the laptop on e thingy auction site last night to sell it, I think it is the best and easiest way forward for me. The rules of their site is that they hold on to the payment for 21 days for new sellers!. I'm hoping someone will message me on the e thingy site before the end and I am happy to let it go a bit cheaper. Will have to wait and see.

Anyone got any other ideas of good places to advertise ?

Hi guys
