Where is the best place to spectate at Silverstone F1?

Never F1 at Silverstone but I've seen other series there and I've been to a few European f1 races during my 22 years of being an F1 fan (I've watched F1 races on TV before the 90's when my dad and older brother used to watch them but I wouldn't consider myself a fan at that time)

I'd imagine a lot of people go to Silverstone once for the experience and then never again after and instead check out a few European races where you don't need to spent a fortune to get a decent vantage point.

TBH, I don't understand why you are questioning my F1 race/day experience considering a lot of people agree Silverstone is far from one of the best circuits to enjoy an F1 race at.

No need to get so defensive - was genuinely wanting to know. I think the OP would rather have it answered from those that have been there, that's all.

I agree that you wouldn't want to go a full race weekend each year there, but its worth doing properly (as others have said) if you do go. The race in 2010 was fantastic and was good to see the new arena section on the Friday and Saturday. The last two years I've just gone on the Friday to get an 3 hour F1 fix :p

Really want to go to some other European races in the future.

I did Silverstone GA 4 years in a row from 2004 to 2007. Hamilton in the GP2 race in 2006 was epic, and when he got pole in 2007 the place just erupted. There is nothing like being at a British GP when a British driver is doing well. I did it in a grandstand in 2010 too, which tbh is how I will always do it from now on as all the GA areas around Club have been built on.

I've done Spa 3 times in GA too, and don't really understand all the claims that its cheaper. GA at Spa is nearly 200 Euros, plus a ferry or train, 1000miles of driving and accommodation. Don't even look at some of the grandstand prices!

Being at a GP is epic. Don't dismiss it just because its easier to follow on the TV. Next up is likely Spain, Germany or maybe Italy, but not this year :(

Which in particular?

Several people I know have done Spa, although I would want to be in a grandstand rather than GA there, so that is my main one. Apart from that, either Spain, Italy or Germany would be good as Skeeter just said above. It isn't too hard to mix it into a week holiday.

We always get Grandstand weekend for Luffield, we only ever watch the race from our seats the rest of the weekend we just wander round as you wish, GA is fine if you are prepared to queue up overnight basically for the gates to open then get a decent spot, but if you are tall then I guess rocking up at any time will be ok for GA :D

of to spa you go :) epic trip

Spa is far from affordable. Any money that is saved in cheaper ticket prices for European races is soon gobbled up by travel or accommodation costs.

The cheap races are all far away ones (Malaysia weekend tickets start at £13!!!).

Total costs for all the Europe races are fairly comparable, so its just choice about where you would like to go.
