I want to put more RAM in this old laptop to see if it helps but where is the DIMM slot? I'm stumped...100% :(

Anyone able to help that knows something about laptop and replacing RAM

How do I actually ADD the RAM? Laptop has 1GB installed at the min but to me, it doesn't seem to have any...visually, that I can see? Is it hidden away or is it in front of me and I just can't see it? If I was to get another 1GB and stick it in the beige slot, would it automatically recognise it when I boot it up again?

Maybe it has one slot round the back (with the RAM stick), and a second slot on the front (the beige).

That's the spec

Ok What's the best way to get at the " one slot round the back (with the RAM stick)" bit? Does it involve taking the keyboard keys off?

Maybe this vid will help (haven't watched it): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiP_I4tqjqs

And by "back" I meant front, just the back relative to your pic, anyway you know what I mean. It'll have one slot one side and another on the other side. :)

The image seems to be showing 1 empty SODIMM slot as per Joketers post ... does it really matter where the other slot is as the spec indicates that there are two slots, 1GB fitted currently with 2GB maximum.

Hence the "hidden" slot already has a 1GB SODIMM in it, which is the maximum it'll take, and you can just add another 1GB SODIMM to the slot you can see to give the maximum total of 2GB, it's not as if you can upgrade the slot you can't see. It would seem an unnecessary risk to disassemble more of the laptop trying to find the other slot.

just plug a dim in the empty slot that is in the picture
no reason to go underneath keyboard
as stated if 2gb max the slot you will insert will make it 2GB

Yeah I got the keybaord off, had a look adn put it back on again. Just need a confirmed part to buy now. Which is hard as OCUK don't supply as far as I know, meaning I can't discuss the buying of more laptop ram :(

This bit here. It has 1 GB of ram buit does that line mean I can add another single 2gig stick (to make 3gig in total?) or another 1gig stick (in beige slot) to make it a total of 2 gig? If that makes sense?

I have a stick of VS1GSDS533D2

If you are interested will stick it in MM for sale.

Ok Ian got me another 1GB of ram which has worked a treat...cheers squire.

My next problem is trying to find wireless drivers for the laptop. I got it with no discs or anything. I can't seem to find any drivers for it online :( It's an older laptop originally running XP so I'm not sure how to find the drivers...would they even work with Windows 7 that I've stuck on it now?
