Forgive my ignorance i know nothing about HDD, when installing my 1TB it shows as 931GB where has the 70GB gone and why does do it on a storage drive, i thought it only steals space on a boot drive?

Its the way that a TB is defined that is the problem.

Hard drive manufacturers define a TB as 1,000,000,000 bytes. Windows defines a TB as 1,073,741,824 bytes. 1,000,000,000 / 1,073,741,824 = 0.931322 or 931 GB.

Above stolen from another forum but that's the gist of it.

I hope more companies follow OCZ and start labeling them "correctly" - i dont see any reason not to (although im sure theres a technicality)
Strictly speaking, the HDD manufacturers already do label them "correctly" - it's the people who started using SI prefixes for the nearest round-number binary equivalent who are ultimately to blame for the confusion.

Still, I can't see gibibytes, mebibytes etc ever catching on, so I guess we're stuck with it.
