Yet again I see something about a particular game, a bit of DLC I have missed or a mod and think I fancy playing that again.
This is where the not so fun kicks in which is trying to remember which launcher I need.
I which to reinstall Skyrim but I just cannot find it.
Is there some black magic I can perform to reveal where it is or what I need to install first?

This is not the first time this has happened and in the past I have just given up but I think a resolution to this mystery is needed.
It would be useful to have a list of games and what launcher is needed on my PC.

Do you not have email receipts of games you've purchased on Steam, etc. you can search to see?

Though maybe not so useful if you've redeemed via entering a code via a bundle or purchased elsewhere, etc.

Great suggestion and I have indeed found the game in my purchase history but that is as far as I get, it is no longer listed in Steam store, I am looking for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary or in my library?

Does it not show in the list in your library in Steam if you unselect the blue play icon "show only ready to play games" ?

(It should be listed under T as the entry starts with The Elder... at least on mine).

Cannot find the 'Blue play icon.'

And not listed under T either.

There is a small round button at the top right of the Steam library games list if you have the same UI setup as I'm using - when it is highlighted in blue it only shows games which are ready to play. Beside it there is a clock icon used to filter by recent activity.
Ah ha, found the button but in my case it is grey not that I needed to click on it as all my library shows except for hidden but it is not there either.
It looks like I will need to buy it again as it is not even listed under my profile which contains 350 games.
Not sure I want to play the whole game again though.
Another one of lifes mysteries. :D

How about just going through the store and looking on the games page, look at any of the options including dlc e.g. special edition etc and see if it says you own and try to install from there of it gives you the option.

Thats the first thing I looked for it but the game I bought Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary is no longer listed in the store what is listed is the Special Edition.

Just looked on Reddit on someone who had a similar issue and someone validated his result, might be worth a punt:
In settings > downloads> clear your download cache. This will make you log in to Steam again. Once I did this my recent purchases were available for download and my missing games were present again.
Unfortunately that did not work, but I see I am not alone in having games go missing from Steam.

According to some people if you still have the key for it you can add/redeem it on Steam again.

Looks like you aren't alone in it disappearing that is kind of bad.
If you buy through Steam you don't actually get a key so that will not work unfortunately.
You can pick it up for a little under seven quid so may just buy it again.

I edited my post above - looks like they intentionally swapped the LE edition for SE edition on people. So you probably have to buy the base game + DLCs again to get the LE back so to speak.
I have sent a hep request to Steam and I await their answer. If I do decide to buy the game again I will not be paying the thirty quid Steam want when I can get it for less than seven elsewhere.

This is going well for some reason Steam has just replied to my request help by telling me how to restore "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR" to my account, I have never owned this game not having a VR set up?

This is the URL to the original Skyrim store page, it has a disclaimer that Bethesda requested for it be unlisted so doesn't show in search anymore.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/72850/The_Elder_Scrolls_V_Skyrim/

I remember years back, Ubisoft having the legendary bundle for very cheap (That's how I got the DLC's), have you checked on there?

This link does not take me to the game I bought which was Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary. I takes me to the The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim with an invitation to buy.

Hey Kronos, long time no see. You've shown a screenshot of the store, but none of the library with your search result of "skyrim". Odd you don't have the "Special Edition" version, you must have bought original Skyrim before they gave it to everyone. :(
Have you managed to find the delisted Store page for original Skyrim in the steam client itself? Or did you look at it through a web browser?

The screenshot shows what I get when I search for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary which is nothing.

As I said for some reason Steam seem to think I am talking about the VR version which is baffling.

And no I cannot find the original store page for the legendary version.

What shows up if you simply just search "Skyrim"? You should have "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" in your library? Within the your library you should have the 4 DLC associated with the game, even though they aren't sold on the games store page.

I don't think the Legendary game exists anymore, not in anyone's library or the store page. Sounds like it was simply just reverted to the original name of Skyrim.
I do not have anything in my library which has Skyrim the game title. It may wall be that the game does not exist the fact remains I purchased the game September 2014 and now I cannot access it.

Also, have you tried this, click name in top right > account details > view purchase history > search "skyrim" (might need to extend the list) > click for details > under "I have a problem with a product.." > it's not in my library option. For me when I do this it tells me the game associated with my Legendary purchase is simply just called Skyrim.
The game Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary shows in my purchase history, there is no "I have a problem with this product" The closest I go is I have a question about this purchase, clicking this gives a box where I need to provide details of the issue I am having, which I did and Steams response was to tell me how to locate the VR version for some reason.

For clarity, this is how it is shown in my account

Then after selecting "Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary" from here it brings me to:

so you don't get these options? at any point have you gone through the process of manually removing the game from your library?
This is what I see.

I certainly uninstalled it if that is what you mean, I have no idea what you mean by manually removing the game from my library?

Cheers for the photo and what you said to @Spacedeck.

Couple of things.

Firstly from what I can tell you should have the Special Edition too, they gave it away to everyone free who had Skyrim: LE (legendary edition) before the release of Skyrim SE (special edition). PCGamer link. So if you're complaining to Steam about missing games, also complain about SE because that's the one I'd advise you to install and play assuming you're not after any mods that are LE only.

Not sure why but Steam seems to have gone silent after I pointed out that I had not contacted them concerning the VR version. If I do not here back by tomorrow I will resubmit my issue and will add your point about the SE version, thanks.

Secondly, I seem to recall your Steam account being hacked not to long ago? If I've remembered correctly it is possible that the **** that did it deleted your games. You can choose to remove them from your account.

I am aware of how to remove games from my account as I have done so in the past but these have been bundled rubbish, I would not have removed a AAA game such as Skyrim.

Thirdly, and this gets a bit more complicated, @DaleTheWhale kindly linked us the store page for the original skyrim (see below)

Now, clicking that link will open the steam store page in a web browser. However, if you add "steam://openurl/" at the start of that in your web browser, it'll either a) open directly in Steam or b) ask what you want to open it with and steam should be the top choice (or in my case "Steam Client Bootstrapper"), which when you select it will open it up in Steam. Because trying to link that directly causes the forum to remove the fist colon, I can't link it. However i'll paste it as code so you can copy paste it into your browser.
Code:
steam://openurl/https://store.steampowered.com/app/72850/The_Elder_Scrolls_V_Skyrim/

If that works, and opens up the Store page for Skryim LE in Steam, see if there's a "Play" button near the top. If there is, when you click it it'll bring up the install popup you'd normally get. Fingers crossed for you, but I suspect that it'll be a case of waiting on Steam Support.

Copied and pasted the link and the page that opens is simply "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, no LE and weirdly it is on my ignored list so no play button just an invite to buy?

No problem!

I'm not suggesting you removed it, I'm suggesting whoever hacked your account did.

Yep it does, won't matter though - I've also got LE and it gives me the play option, which will throw up an install window. You may have ignored it simply because you bought the LE and didn't want to be spammed by steam for the base game - something I've had happen before.

Decided I would not wait and sent another message asking what was going on and mentioning your point about the SE version, thanks.
Lets see what happens though it unusual for Steam Help to take this sort of time to resolve an issue as they are usually quite prompt.
