Where should the OS and programs go?

I've been wanting to change the setup of my system for a while, and im soon going to upgrade pretty much everything to this:

Q6600
X48 asus mobo (or X58 depending on date of release)
4GB (2x2) dominator pc8500
ATI 4870 GPU (eventually 2)
1000W psu
Vista 64bit Ultimate

What I would like to understand is this. I am wishing to take advantage of RAID0 and I am going to be using it for a variety of things (animation, 3d rendering, premiere, encore, audition, pro tools...etc), so where is the best place to stick vista and the programs?

1. I buy 2 X 74gb Raptor 10,000RPM drives and use raid0 and place programs on the array with windows.

2. I buy 1 X 74gb Raptor to run windows, and use 2 others to run the programs in raid0.

3. I go stir crazy and use 2 raptors for windows and use my current 200gb sata 7200rpm drive for the programs.

4. 3 but in reverse. programs in raid and windows on 200gb 7200rpm drive.

I would like to take advantage of the obvious speed differences with not only a faster HDD, but also a RAID setup. I have plenty of dvd's and around 500gb worth of external storage so redundancy is not something im parity-icularly looking for (really sorry about that). And if a drive was to fail, i would prefer it to be something that is replaceable, ie programs not my data files.

Does anybody know what would be the best type of layout for the system? Or what some of you are happy to use? Obviously im not made of money, so 4 X veloci-raptors is a bit far out.

Thanks for any input.
