Hi there,

Me and a friend are looking to get out of London for a weekend in mid March.

We don't have a lot to spend and we are looking for somewhere to chill and hit some bars.

Can be in the U.K. or even Europe if its cheap enough.

Budget we have set is around -

£30-50 each for travel
£30-40 each a night for accommodation

Anything cheaper would be great. We have been Birmingham, Bath, Portsmouth, Leicester and Brighton in our random travels so far, so that rules them out :).

Go to the north east
You will get a proper experience there

Sometimes you can get cheap tickets on eastcoast trains

Lots of north east people on here to advise you

If you come to the northeast, go to Durham or somewhere cultural

Don't go to Middlesbrough/Hartlepool/Stockton lmao ;)

I've got a spare ticket going to newcastle tomorrow from kings cross at 2:30 if you want it, return for monday evening.

Too soon?

EDIT: that's a lie, 2:30pm friday, not tomorrow.

Newcastle, Leeds, Nottingham, York, Liverpool

all good nights out

Arrrgghhhhhh!!!!!

Nottingham a good night out? Can't stand the place always far to much fighting going on I've never been anywhere with such a violent Saturday night scene. (I lived there for 2 years and in Derby for 4!)

depends on knowing the area, never seen 1 fight in lace market/hockley area

Leeds - plenty of places to eat and things to see. Lots of bars and a few clubs.

Manchester - similar to the above and my home city!

I can recommend hotels in both of these cities should you like - send me a massage in trust :)

Cardiff?

Europe wise - (I have said it before and I will say it again) Krakow!! Cheap, amazing food, lovely people and loads of things to see and do. Flights are relatively short and it feels really European and not touristy

Bristol.

Grab a travel lodge in the centre, driving down between ya would be within budget. A great night life, shopping, food, sight-seeing, museum/cinema etc etc. It's all there within walking distance.

I'd suggest cheap flights somewhere out in Europe. If you head somewhere out of the Euro (poland for example) you're likely to get better value.
