I haven't had a decent pc in... ever. Just ordered some bits consisting of an i7 4790k, asus z97-k, 16gb 2133Mhz RAM.

Not going to gaming on this much but I wouldn't mind having the option. What would be a good starting point graphic card wise that'll work well within my system?

Not looking to break the bank. Like I said I'm not going to be gaming a lot on it but the option would be nice. I have an xbox so compare able performance would be ideal. Also anything that would assist with video rendering would be great.

Just a lot of cards and features out there. Where to start??

Thanks.

Name a budget.

Nvidia cards help with video rendering if your software has CUDA support.

GTX 970 is the bees knees at the moment but if you cant afford that then a GTX 960.

AMD camp probably pickup a R9 290 but you need to state a budget.

Got to be a 970 but maybe go for one of the cheaper ones.

I love mine and I feel it's probably the best GPU I've ever bought. My GeForce 3 was awesome at the time but was £40 more nearly 15 years ago.

You can always justify it to yourself if you do anything creative that can take advantage such as adobe stuff.

Saying that, the 4790k IGP will play older games. You can always see whether it soon ends up holding you back.

What McGraw said.

You could adopt a suck it and see approach. If the on board graphics of the 4790k start to get cumbersome for you, then look into a 960 or 970.

What's your budget?
