Hi,

I am looking to get an 0845 number or equivalent as my business number might need changing dueto relocation. I want to prevent this from being a problem by having an 0845 (or equivalent) number that I can move when I move.

Does anyone have any experience with them? Wheres the best place to get one from? How much do they cost?

Any suggestions / links gratefully received.

Cheers,

ICE

Google will give you 1001 options for doing this, every man and his dog is offering them these days so shop about as its a competative market.

I've used Callagenix (www.callagenix.com) for the same purpose in the past and couldn't fault them. Using their Call Diversion service you can re-direct the number to a landline or mobile number as and when you need to (always handy for long lunch breaks!). I had an '0870' number, issued free, - callers were charged at BT National Rate, but actually generated a 2p per minute revenue to me. :D

Yeah phone up BT, they can sort it for you. It worked out quite expensive though just to prewarn you, you'll need to be able to justify it.

Do not buy your number from BT - as usual they are your most expensive option.
We are in the process of buying some non-geographical numbers for work.

An 0845 should be revenue-neutral.
That is your customers should pay the normal BT rates (7p/min Day, 1p/min Evening/Weekends).
At the same time you should not be charged any connection fee.
Also you shouldn't be making any money on each call.
Do note that in some cases an 0845 cannot be dialled from over-seas.
So if you expect somebody to phone from abroad then you should specify an alternative number.
Also remember that an 0845 number works along side you existing number, it is not a replacement.
It is simply diverted to your "real number".

0870 should be avoided.
Firstly your customers are charged more than BT standard rates.
Customers know this and people will avoid an 0870 number knowing this.
You will also make a small amount on an 0870 number - but of course that isn't why you are looking for such a number.
The advantage of an 0870 is that there should be no problem calling it from abroad.

Just google "0845 numbers" and you'll find plenty of suppliers.
Many will supply you with one for free.
Silver, gold or platinum numbers (your very easy to remember numbers) will cost you - the better the number the higher the cost.
A basic 0845 will probably cost you nothing (near nothing) to setup.
Look for a supplier that offers you a control panel so that you cna log in and change the number the 0845 diverts to so you don't need to keep on contacting the company and asking them to make the changes.

A basic 0845 (random number) shouldn't cost you very much at all.

As stoofa said, do NOT use BT.

I've a few years experience with them myself, setting them up for game show call ins, market research, voice apps etc.

I can't list the site, but if you email me, I'll give you the contact details of someone that can arrange an 0845 number for you.

Hi,

I couldnt find your email address on your profile/website. Can you let me know what it is?

I am actually looking at at getting an 0845 number as we speak. Ideally i would like to pay a one off fee if possible, no subscription or service charges.
