Looking at picking up a 3.5L v8 complete with a gearbox, carbs, the lot.

Wheres the best place to look?

Cheers,
Jake

eBay's your best bet. What's it for?

Either that or the V8 Owner's Forum, or Rods and Sods.

About 75% of them will have autoboxes on the end, don't know whether that's relevant or not to you, and a lot of them will be the low-compression Range Rover units.

Try a decent breakers yard, try Bridges on the M23, all their engines come with a warranty if not try a specialist magazine or forum, it's not a rare engine but I bet there's several varieties that you'll have no idea on till it's too late and bought it.

Not entirely sure, Dads asked me to find one, I'm sure its for the 2dr Range Rover classic shell hes just bought. Not entirely sure though, I'm surprised you don't have a spare :p

Nice cheers mate :)

Stick a 3.9 in, job done. You could even use the original flapper EFI if it's on it, only takes about five wires to get it going :)

I don't do Rovers any more, and if I did they'd already be attached to a car :p

etc......

Consider any potential candidate that can't be heard running or lacking historical evidence as requiring bearings, rings, new oil pump and a top end/cam rebuild though :D

Your Dad runs a large breakers yard and has done for years and no doubt has no end of contacts both national and regional through doing this.

Yet he asks you to post on ocuk and ask where he'd get an engine? :p

Maybe speak to these guys, friends of a friend I will frely admit :) but last time I was down at their unit (and house) there were V8 parts/engines aplenty...am sure they would be happy to give you some advice as to which variant is best suited for your use and if you needed to source any aftermarket tuning parts such as trigger wheels, alternators, cams and the like.

Fair point! lol!

snip
etc......

Yep, his current one he's restoring has a 3.9 for some reason he wants the 3.5. Again I'm guessing it's for the Range Rover, but I'm not 100% sure.

Make sure to give them a ring first, the unit is far from the easiest to find, depending on what you are after or wanting to discuss then meeting at their home may be easier....Dan and Nathan are good lads though, not been in business all that long, but really enthusiastic and helpful, keen to offer advice, tell them I sent you (they will know me as Will with the Fiesta ST).
