Where to go for next upgrade?

My current spec is in my sig, and i am going to be buying a new monitor after xmas, depending on how much money i have (im 16 so money is hard to come by :p), i will most probably get a 22 inch belinea 1680x1050, or if i get a lot of money then perhaps a cheap 24inch( but more likely the 22). Now After this what needs to be upgraded? Do you reckon i should be ok for a while? Of will i need a new GPU soon? What about my C2D at 3ghz? That should be fine for a while? Or should i go for a cheap quad core?

your CPU will be fine for about 99% of games out to date, since many games can not take advantage of all 4 cores on a quad. depending on the res you play on on your new monitor and the games you play, a new GPU may be required, although it may be best to wait for the new cards by nvidia or ati to be released first before buying.

the monitor will probably be bought just after xmas or new year. then the next part around feb/march, i just want to get an indication of where to go next.
 
hmm.. not really bothered about sound, as long as i hear something its ok :p

Just worked out, if i actually sold my graphics card for about £100-£110, i could buy the 20 inch 1680x1050 ocuk monitor, plus a 8800GTS 512mb.

Sound plays incredibly important role in games. If you don't think sound is important, when you go to a cinema do you ask them to turn the speakers off, you then listen to it through a small mono transistor radio?
