I have just bought -

-Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W)

-MSI Z77A-GD55 Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £95.29

-Corsair A50 High-Performance CPU Cooler (SocketAM2/AM3/LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366)

- Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound (3.5g)

-Gigabyte GeForce GTX 670 Windforce 3X 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

- Sandisk Extreme SSD 120GB 2.5" SATA-3 Solid State Hard Drive

It's a new build but in the same case I had no idea where to start with this build? shall I remove my HDD, Motherboard, CPU and CPU cooler. Put the new Mobo, CPU and CPU cooler in then plug in the 670 and the SSD with the windows disc it in then boot?

test it outside the case first with the most important componenets i.e. cpu, gpu, mobo, psu and ram... if it posts, your all set...

stick it all in the case and boot up, check the bios to make sure everything is detected then install windows

I'm not testing outside of case - Simple, I'll proceed tomorrow but when I install windows on SSD when I plug in the HDD will it disable running windows on that so I can simply reformat it?

make sure the SSD is the first drive to be detected and booted from... that should sort out windows not booting straight off..

and testing outside the case first off is pretty standard these days to make sure the system/new parts are working correctly and compatible.

no need to put it all in the case, then find out its not all working, then have to dig around inside trying to figure out whats up with it... plus not need to be sarcy about it dude i.e. "simple"... its something you may have to do!
