Where would you emigrate to?

I definitely see myself living in another country at some point as the UK is just too expensive and has a much lower quality of life compared to other western countries. Where would I go? The obvious choice to me right now is Australia being that my girlfriend is an Aussie and wants to go back over there in a couple of years. I'd consider most of the usual suspects though, the US, Canada, New Zealand etc. Having not really since much of any of them though I couldn't say for sure right now.

You're kidding right? Those people exist? I thought everyone and their nan does an I.T. course nowadays so they can downloads internets!!1

Haha

I think the point is there is a bit of a difference between a mate who puts a few systems together and can trouble shoot Windows with a proper IT professional

Dunno, seem to be on the increase too, though regardless the wages are pathetic for the knowledge, so much so i wouldn't even consider going into it, regardless what i can do. Interesting you say wages are better there in NZ though, will look into that. Guess it's like Australia lacking plumbers, etc.

Canada, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Czech Republic, New Zealand, Puerto Rico or Cuba.

I don't speak the local language for any of those countries apart from Canada, but I'd love to learn.

i would hate to live in the uk, but if i was to move away from my island i'd probably like to go to somewhere with similar climate temperatures or hotter. i hate being cold. mallorca was amazing, especially the northern part i like, quiet and peaceful :p and the sea was just right too. france is a great place to go to, i'd like to live in a small town/village rather than a city. turin in italy has some nice spots to live as well. but id pick italy at the end of the day. :)

I see that Canada and Japan are popular choices, It's mine as well. They just seem like nice clean decent countries. I haven't been to Canada myself but loads of my friends have and they always come back absolutly raving about it. I've been to Japan myself, mostly Tokyo and completely fell in love with the place. I would stay in the big cities myself so my choice would be

Canada - Vancouver or Toronto
Japan - Tokyo

Been looking into this very question today. canada, new zeland or australia. I will wait a few years until I get chartered engineer status, then the world is my oyster :)

Japanese is pretty easy, i had a proper Japanese teacher come over, so i learnt the accent pretty well. a lot of silent letters and basically, Where you'd use an 'L', they'd say 'R'.

All together: "Rovely day reeanne, rove your reggins!"

Dam, that's Scooby Doo, nevermind.

Can i ask a favour? For once, can one of you learn to write? I work for a big consultancy and all of you write like 10 year olds and use words like 'Stet', when 'ignore' would do. Sort that, then get Chartered :D

I quite like living in Prague but Toronto canada would be very nice.
Yeah Prague is quite nice :)
OT: I tried adding the email in your trust to MSN but you may have declined it thinking it was some random wierdo :) I have a few questions regarding satellite TV here in Prague.

Back on topic, Switzerland also seems quite nice and has high standards of living, I've been to Geneva and wasn't too impressed but I think I'd prefer somewhere more in the mountains probably in a German speaking area.

The south of France, Italy, Spain or if I could afford it I'd love to live on an island in the Maldives.

I also work for a big consultancy and to get chartered you have to fail a written exam, everyone knows that :P

Canada: but they won't let me in, get this:

Im 23, No dependants, Degree educated professional, no debts. Basically said i'm not old enough.

Now let's look at England:

Oh my god, i think i'm going to be sick, forget it.

thats not correct.

the age requirement for Canada is between 18 - 49 (you can be older than 49but you lose points)

you need atleast 67 points to migrate to Canada

20 points for your degree
16 points for English
10 points for age

and you will need atleast 4 years professional experience to gain the 21 points required for 67 or less if you have family other there or a partner with higher education.

dude.

Oooh, which one? (Don't have to say)

i'll stick my neck out and say i'm at White Young Green, but was at Halcrow before couple years back.

I'm so tempted to scan some drawings i got here, i mean, whole letters missed out, it's like each word is a signature. Don't mind doctors doing it, i don't need to read it, but it's annoying when i'm meant to draw a bloody bridge out of it haha :D

Yeh, what i was basically saying having a degree and 4 years professional experience in the same industry at 23 is completely impossible :).
