Me and my better half have a 4 day weekend (thurs-sun) coming up at the end of july and i suggested we go away even if its just for a couple days but i'm not entirely sure where.

I'd love to go somewhere in europe and stay over for a couple nights but they may be quite expensive. Whats paris like at this time of year?

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to go for a few days for between 100 and 200 quid? Obviously the cheaper the better.

What type of holiday are you after? Drunken booze fuelled orgies or scenery (lakes and Mountains) and good walks, etc

If its the latter I recommend "Fort William" in Scotland. We went early June and the weather, scenary, walks (around Ben Nevis) and beaches (Morar) were all spectacular. Local cuisine wasn't the best I've tried though.....

Looking at your location in your profile, I'd recommend flying to Inverness and hiring a car. You can then take in Loch Ness on the way down to Fort William

Deffinently nothing heavy, just somewhere to relax and get away from work and stuff for a couple days.

pragues nice , so is rome if you can afford it but theres gonna be lots of italians waving the flag around :p

Thought of staying in the UK? The Highlands of Scotland are ideal for short breaks at this time of year. Some very romantic/quiet spots too.

Alghero, Sardinia is gorgeous, Ryanair fly there from Stansted, not sure about prices atm though. Easy to get cheap accomodation, food is lovely (and cheap!) and nice beaches and walks, all very nice :)

but don't forget your brolly :)

Didn't need it once at the start of June this year when we were there....

Other recommendations....Lake Garda. Limone is a lovely town on the lake thats gorgeous.....wonderful Pizza too :)

Stansted to Verona then a 90 minute bus ride....

Send the other half away to some girly thing and get beer, pizza and all 3 extended editions of lord of the rings.

If you have the stamina, fetch more beer and go for episodes 4-6 of Star Wars.

How about Barcelona? I took my girlfriend there at a similar time last year for a long weekend and it was brilliant. So much to see and do if you like that sort of thing, and beautiful place too. :)

I've just come back from a long weekend in Gerona (Ryanir fly there telling you it's Barcelona :) ) Stayed in a designer hotel for 160 Euros a night in a smal suite with private patio next to the cathedral, there is enough to do there for a few days and a short train ride to the Salvadore Dali museum is only 5 Euros and 10 to get in the place. It is a romantic place if a little bit of a walk uphill everywhere :)
