Where's Moeks?

Well this was an interesting thread to read, I do wonder what was said in the few deleted posts though.

Apparently my gaybashing rant from several years back was bought up by the looks of it, although I didn't see a link to it.

I do regret what I said, I am damn ashamed of it actually, last motors meet and the one before I wanted to say to PM Keates that I was sorry (since embarrassingly for me Mr. Keates reminded everyone about it last year, I thought that had been forgotten and I know that bringing it back up allowed a lot of people that didn’t know about it to read it, which I was embarrassed about tbh) and to apologise for any offence that may have occurred, but the right moment never really came up ...well I suppose that's hardly the sort of moment that does. I can't defend what I said, I did used to hold rather more 'extreme' views than I do now, I have travelled a lot, met a lot of people and basically had much more contact out of my own little bubble since I said all that ...my views have changed accordingly, not to mention I have just gotten older and really couldn't care less what sexuality someone has.

As for what Pete said about me seeming a little 'awkward' when I found out he liked men ..well I wouldn't put it like that exactly, I just had no idea (call me naive if you like) ...I've never been all that great at spotting this sort of thing and I did feel a bit awkward when I asked him if Oly was related to him or something like that since he was a fully paid up driver of Pete's car ...which is a little odd for just a 'friend' ...I did not know what everyone else apparently knew and at that moment, which was 2 RR's ago iirc, I did feel a bit awkward, especially as I knew they likely knew what I had said several years prior as it had recently been brought back up by PM Keates ...thus I sure did feel awkward, but not for the reasons some may imagine, I just felt embarrassed and rather ashamed ...since I like PM Keates, Pete and Oly ...and really didn't want them to think I was looking at them differently because of this or for them to look at me differently ...as an intolerant bigot. I have changed my thinking on all this and I am sorry, I apologise for what I said years ago. And with that I would really like to lay that 'issue' to rest, although I think me and PM Keates had laid it to rest ...sort of, since he seemed to accept my earlier attempt at an apology.

Anyway ...where have I been? ...well doing other stuff, and I also didn't quite know how to come back and start posting after I started down another one of my silly ranting pseudo philosophical bs roads ...it was nothing to do with cars or homosexuality though, something about dyeing in glorious battle to defend your family and home etc, I actually forget the specifics now but I think it was about what you would do if someone broke into your house and tried to take your stuff ...anyway, I said some silly things I figured I wasn't going to get out of without looking like a fool ...which is something I admit, I hate. Still, this is the internet and my foolishness doesn't even begin to compare to some that you can find out there. But in essence I mostly stopped reading OcUK for months after that thread ...as I didn't even want to see the responses to my last post where iirc I was trying to explain my viewpoint, albeit probably not very well, I just knew it was going to nosedive and I had no way to get out without looking like an idiot I guess, and I didn't want to read that and think about it to be honest.

I have been reading a lot more again of late and frankly, I kind of miss OcUK motors and I'm trying to catch up on what's happaned over the months.

Also, I have not moved to Canada, but I will be going for a 3 week visit on July 1st, spending more time there this time so I can really work some stuff out and make sure I really do want to live there.

I have not "sunk my balls" into anything Canadian, although Diamond Mark's wishes are appreciated :p ...I have however broken up with my girlfriend of nearly 4 years though, it was mutual and we remain friends and no I'm not going to talk about that since no-one cares and I don't care to talk about it anyway ...never have liked that kind of talk on the internet with strangers ...cars and computers or politics though, sure!

Errr that's more or less it I suppose, and yes my Jag has problems ...and yes I was rather embarrassed to have once again made a mistake, but I have had my sisters Audi since before I came to the last RR, so I have mostly been using that and avoiding the Jag ...saved myself a fortune in petrol too I might add, I've probably put 1k miles on the Jag since though tbh ...if that. I said I would keep it a year though and in August ...it will be a year and I am inclined to change it soon, my sister is back from Aus at the end of July anyway so I will lose the A4 then, which has been great really.

I am going to stop overstepping my own income braket with cars though and also I want to save more money for the future, so that when I do finally go to Canada, probably in several years, I will need money anyway and I'd really rather not plough so much into failing old cars. So when I do get something it'll be much newer and rather lower down the scale but a lot cheaper to run and hopefully problem free. Something like a Mk4 Mondeo ...I've had my eye on those lately, they have really grown on me ...but that's a discussion for another thread and when I get back from Canada ...or more likely when I am in Canada and want something to talk about.

Finally, I wonder why Robbie G said I was a massive cry baby, along with Iaind ? …I would tend to disagree with that actually, whatever else I may have said around here, I don’t think I am a cry baby. Anyway it would seem he got suspended for some reason, so I really don’t care :p

That’s about it, bit of an essay I know, but it’s been a long time. I am kind of …well touched I suppose that someone would make a thread asking where I was, I didn't think people took much notice of me :p

Wow, I had no idea taking you to task on that post would cause you to get up and leave the forum!

I guess you just need to roll with the punches, and doubly so on the internet. Kudos for holding your hands up to it and not simply saying you forgot your password or something like that though.

Well yea, I hate to make a fool of myself and I knew that I was there and I didn't know how to get out of it, backing down and saying I am wrong isn't something that exactly comes easily to me.

Oh yea, well basically it's hardly that smooth when it's warm ...and it's sluggish, seems to select the wrong gears at annoying times.

When it's cold though it shunts at around 40mph and is very rough and at certain revs you get a deep low whoomfing sound from the torque converter and you can feel it through the car.

Also, I actually forgot to mention the whole car has a constant vibration/resonance running through it at speeds above 60mph ...I have had all new tyres on it, new front brakes (discs and pads) and the suspension componenents and brakes inspected etc ...no one can see what is wrong and I know it's not the tyres or the front brakes, I suppose it could be the rear brakes ...although they look fine.

Or a drive shaft.

But what you need to do is get that looked at by a DECENT Jag man, not even a main dealer. Ring my man at Surrey Jags and ask him what he thinks.

Are these boxes 'sealed for life' units?

If so I'd definitely look into getting a flush done and the adaptations redone before panicking too much. Its wonders what new fluid and settings can do for a box :).

Vibration after tyres would make me think someone hasn't balanced the wheels properly.

I think a software flash and a flush will sort your gearbox, the vibration if the tyres are done right might be any number of things thats why you need a man who knows to tell you, rather than a div or a main dealer that wants to just randomly change things till they get it right and charge you a fortune.

Joshy, the vibration was there before I changed the tyres, when I had all new tyres on it there was actually a new vibration from tyre imbalance, which I mentioned at the rr, but I got that sorted but was still left with the original vibration which is different, not like an out of balance tyre. The Drive shaft is a very real possibility though and one I had seen mentioned elsewhere.

I would probably better served by getting this stuff looked at rather than buying another new car anyway, since the Jag is worth bascially sod all now as a trade in and it's an otherwise lovely car, engine is nice nad smooth and purrs along, interior is lovely, bodywork is fine other than a scratch I put on the rear bumper.

Although going down to Surrey is rather out of my way and if I had to leave the car there I have no idea what I would do (I don't understand trains :p ) but if you know a good guy Mark I am incliced to talk to him before I do anything that involves parting with money then. If you could send me the details that'd be great.

It's very much a case of the Jag is still one of my absolute favourite cars on the road today, but mine isn't quite right and the issues I have ruin one of it's best points ...refinment. It's not like the 540i situation though, whatever this is I don't think it's that serious and the car is in much, much better condition.

Ok the bloke you want to talk to is Ray Brown, he's got a stutter but dont try to finish his sentences gets right on his ****.

Anyway that man was a Jag supreme master technician, that means he knows.

0208 689 3333.

I've heard of a Master Tech ...but a Supreme Master Tech ...eh, does he have his own Deathstar ? ...anyway thanks for that.

And I wouldn't dream of trying to finish his sentences.

What that man dont know about Jags aint worth knowing that bloke is the ******.

I'll be in Calgary, Alberta though not BC, although I was considering a drive through the Rockies down to Vancouver, that really depends if I can bothered to drive that far.

Speaking of which I was meaning to ask Fox about how he manages to get all these really cheap hire car deals, I need to rent a car for 20 days ...and at the moment it's looking to cost me about $900ish cd ...that's with me adding insurance on at the rate it cost me last time anyway, for all I know the insurance cost may have gone up though. I know it's a long period to hire a car for and I wont need it everyday, but I'd like to keep it for that period for flexibility really, so I can come and go as I please in it, since I'll just be living with my uncle for 3 weeks I don't have accomodation costs, although I will need to buy some food of course.
